Santa Monica Studio's next God of War entry has a release date, a pre-order page, and enough edition details to actually make a decision on. God of War Laufey arrives exclusively on PS5 on February 16, 2027, and pre-orders went live on September 29. Two editions are available, the Standard and the Digital Deluxe, with a $10 gap between them and a meaningful difference in what you get. Here's everything you need to know.
Two editions are on offer: the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99. The Standard Edition comes in both physical disc and digital formats. The Digital Deluxe is digital only, though players who buy the physical Standard Edition disc can still upgrade to the Deluxe via a $10 upgrade path directly through the PS Store.
Here's a full side-by-side breakdown:

Every pre-order of the Standard Edition, physical or digital, includes three bonuses that unlock through story progression:
These are cosmetic and resource items, not gameplay-altering unlocks. The armor set and Phranque appearance give you a distinct look from day one, while the resource pack gives you a head start on upgrading gear.
God of War Laufey Pre-Order Guide: All Editions, Prices, & Bonuses
The Digital Deluxe Edition stacks everything from the Standard pre-order and adds a full suite of Dark Alchemy cosmetics that cover all of Faye's major gear slots:
The Dark Alchemy Bow Scales are worth noting specifically because they tie into one of the game's core customization systems. Scales change both the look of the Serpent Bow and the playstyle perk it provides, so getting a Deluxe-exclusive Scale on day one gives you a different build option from the start.
Santa Monica Studio also dropped new combat details alongside the pre-order announcement, specifically around Faye's Serpent Bow, her primary ranged weapon in the Everywhen.
The bow operates across two distinct fire modes controlled by how far you press the aim trigger:
Beyond the two fire modes, the bow supports multiple arrow types for different situations, including rapid fire, explosive detonations, and multi-target shots. The Scales system layers on top of this by changing the weapon's perk entirely depending on which Scale you equip.
God of War Laufey Pre-Order Guide: All Editions, Prices, & Bonuses
The Serpent Bow is one piece of a broader customization setup. Faye's gear breaks down into three main categories:
Armor sets add another layer, with different sets offering distinct gameplay perks, stats, and visual looks. The Dark Alchemy set from the Digital Deluxe Edition covers the Blade, Bow Scales, and Catalyst slots simultaneously, which is why the Deluxe upgrade path is genuinely useful for players who want a cohesive build aesthetic from the start.
God of War Laufey is a PS5 exclusive, so digital pre-orders go through the PS Store only. Select the edition you want on the PS Store page and complete the transaction. The game will download automatically before launch.
The physical Standard Edition disc is available at select retailers including Amazon and Best Buy. Physical buyers can still access the $10 Digital Deluxe upgrade through the PS Store after purchase, which keeps your options open if you prefer owning a disc but want the extra content.
For more on the game's mechanics, story details, and character breakdowns, the God of War Laufey strategy guides collection will be updated as more information releases ahead of the February 16, 2027 launch. God of War Laufey sits alongside other major action adventure games releasing in 2027, but given Santa Monica Studio's track record, it has the highest expectations of the group.
