ATMOSFAR comes out in Early Access on Thursday 29 October 2026, on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store (Gematsu). From the trailers and gameplay I’ve watched, it looks like another crafter, a crafter in the air along the same lines as Raft. The flying between the little islands looks sick as well, and I’ve just added it to my wishlist.

When does ATMOSFAR come out?

ATMOSFAR comes out on 29 October 2026, after a delay. It was first meant to launch on 20 May, but a week before that date Apog Labs pushed it back by a few months, saying the game’s ambition and scope had grown during production and it wanted more time for polish (Games Press).

People have been waiting for it. On 19 October the publisher said ATMOSFAR had passed 300,000 wishlists on Steam (Games Press). The Steam page doesn’t list a price yet, but the developer says the price will go up slightly when the full version comes out (Steam).

Is ATMOSFAR on Xbox or PS5?

ATMOSFAR isn’t on Xbox or PS5, at least not yet. It’s launching on PC only, through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and neither the Steam page nor the official site mentions a console version. It does have full controller support on Steam, so you can play it with a pad on PC.

What is ATMOSFAR?

ATMOSFAR is a survival game set on Tycos, an alien planet of floating islands, where you try to work out what happened to humanity’s final outpost. You scavenge scrap, process minerals, collect organic materials, cook, craft and research artifacts, all while a life support system in your backpack powers you and your tools (Steam). It’s made by Apog Labs, the studio behind Airport CEO, and published by Shueisha Games.

You get around in Wasps, small flying craft that can zip through the sky or hover in place. Steam lists three of them:

  • The Utility Wasp deploys a portable camp.
  • The Hauler Wasp airlifts heavy scrap.
  • The Striker Wasp stuns enemies.

Each Wasp needs fuel, maintenance and repairs, and you can upgrade engine parts, hover modules or whole hulls, and give it a new paint job. Your base is the Cloud Cruiser, a slow airship you build out with Wasp pads, fuel tanks and a lounge, then fly yourself from the helm as you push further across Tycos island by island.

What’s in ATMOSFAR’s Early Access?

ATMOSFAR’s Early Access launches with two regions of floating islands with multiple biomes, three Wasps and a fully working Cloud Cruiser, in single player and multiplayer. Apog Labs aims to keep your saves for the whole Early Access period, which will last at least nine months (Steam).

The full version is meant to add a third and final region, The Rime, plus a fourth Wasp, the Scout, much bigger Cloud Cruiser building and an ending to the story. Day and night, jet streams, rainstorms, creatures and drones are all in from the start, so it isn’t just sightseeing: the weather is something you have to fly through.

Does ATMOSFAR look like Raft?

ATMOSFAR looks like Raft to me, but in the air: a crafter where you’re trying to work out what’s going on around you. Watching the gameplay, with the flying about, it looks real cool. It also looks kind of like a lot of the games I play already.

The difference is that your base moves through the sky instead of floating on the sea, and you fly out from it in your Wasps. If survival games where the world itself is the problem are your thing, I’ve also written about Permafrost, where the main enemy is the cold.

Should you play ATMOSFAR solo or with friends?

ATMOSFAR works either way, and I would play it solo, but that’s because I play all of these solo. I think it would be sick with friends, though. From the videos I’ve seen, it seems like another one where friends enhance it, and not just because you’re with friends. It’s the speed you get from having more hands. Many hands make light work, you know?

Up to four players can play together online. You can camp out together, hitch a ride on a friend’s Wasp, fly in formation, and build and run a shared Cloud Cruiser (Steam).

Will I buy ATMOSFAR on day one?

Maybe. ATMOSFAR is on my wishlist, and I might watch other people play it first. It might not be day one, but it looks fun.

There’s no demo on its Steam page, so until Thursday the trailers and gameplay videos are what there is to go on. It’s Early Access too, so what you get on 29 October is two regions out of three and a story that doesn’t end yet.
