Calamity Introduces $WYRM Token Staking

The web3 MMORPG Calamity has officially announced its new NFT collection known as Factory NFTs. This upcoming addition introduces a total of 9,999 digital assets that players can use to earn $WYRM tokens through staking while also unlocking a variety of in-game functionalities. These NFTs will serve as player-owned apartments that provide production capabilities and access to exclusive systems within the Calamity game environment.

Calamity Factory NFTs are designed to function as in-game apartments that include production zones operated by units called Automatas. These are automated robots responsible for generating resources and crafting materials, which players can use as part of their gameplay. Each Factory NFT comes with a certain number of Automata slots, determined by the tier of the asset. Automatas themselves will be earned through gameplay across upcoming seasons, with a total of six types planned for release. The type of materials that can be produced depends on the specific kind of Automatas a player owns.

In addition to acting as production hubs, Factory NFTs grant holders access to the Merging system and allow free participation in the Expeditions system. The Expeditions feature lets players accelerate their game progress by spending tokens, but Factory NFT holders can use this system without any cost. The efficiency of this system depends on the Energy supplied by the NFT, which increases as the Factory tier increases.

Factory NFTs and Tiers Explained

The Factory NFTs follow a deflationary model based on a merging mechanic that reduces the overall supply of assets while providing users with upgraded benefits. Players can combine three NFTs of the same tier to form a higher-tier Factory. For example, merging three Tier 1 NFTs creates one Tier 2 Factory. This process can be repeated up to Tier 5, with each level offering incremental improvements in staking power, Automata capacity, and in-game functionality.

At Tier 1, a Factory has a base staking power of 100. By merging three Tier 1 assets into one Tier 2, the staking power increases to 350, reflecting a 15 percent bonus. This scaling continues through higher tiers, eventually reaching a staking power of 14,100 at Tier 5, representing a 74 percent increase. In addition to staking improvements, higher-tier Factories offer more Energy for Expeditions and potentially future exclusive features.

PvP Wagers and Access to Mini-Games

Each Tier 1 Factory NFT is eligible to receive a total of 5,500 $WYRM tokens. This includes an airdrop of 1,650 tokens at the time of the token generation event, followed by up to 3,850 tokens earned over three months through staking. The actual staking rewards will depend on various factors such as the number of NFTs staked and their respective tiers. If all 9,999 NFTs are sold, this mechanism will account for 5.5 percent of the total $WYRM supply.

The $WYRM token will serve multiple purposes within the Calamity ecosystem. Players can use it to purchase Season Passes that include play-to-earn features, stake for loot boxes, trade through the in-game Auction House, acquire premium consumables, and participate in PvP wagers and mini-games.

Blockchain Still To Be Decided

As of now, Calamity has not confirmed the exact mint date or the blockchain on which the Factory NFTs will be launched. However, based on previous collections such as Dragon Rings being on the Ronin blockchain, it is likely that Factory NFTs will also be hosted there. The Q3 2025 roadmap referenced these NFTs as part of its upcoming features, suggesting that the public sale will occur within this timeframe.

Players interested in securing $WYRM tokens and gaining early access to Calamity’s new game mechanics may consider participating in the NFT sale once it goes live. For additional information, including previews of various Factory NFT tiers, the development team has released an announcement on X featuring a short video demonstration.
