Catch a Brainrot has a deceptively simple loop: weaken a brainrot, throw a box, add it to your team. The part most players get wrong is the box selection. Use a basic Rot Box on a level 18 creature and you will burn through your entire supply. The game currently has 8 Rotboxes, each tied to a specific level range or zone, and knowing which one to buy before you grind matters more than almost anything else.
The full Rotbox lineup, from starter to endgame
Rotboxes are the only capture tool in the game. You cannot catch brainrots without them, and higher-tier boxes directly improve your catch rate, meaning fewer failed attempts and less wasted currency. Here is every Rotbox currently available, along with what unlocks it and what it costs:
The progression splits into two clear tracks once you hit Level 9. The Rot Box, Silver Box, and Gold Box cover the Grass Zone from the ground up. The Snowbox through the Frozen Box are purpose-built for the Ice Zone, each tuned to a different stage of that area. Mixing them up, like using a Gold Box in the late Ice Zone, is where most players waste their coins.
Where the Grass Zone boxes stop being useful
The base Rot Box is fine for the first few hours. It handles brainrots up to Level 9 without too much friction, and at 31 coins it is cheap enough to stock up early. The Silver Box extends that ceiling to Level 15 and is the right call the moment you hit Level 3, since the jump from 197 coins to 401 coins for the Gold Box is manageable once you have a few battles under your belt.
The Gold Box at Level 6 is where the Grass Zone effectively tops out. It covers creatures up to Level 22, which takes you through most of what the zone has to offer. If you are building a team for competitive selling, pairing the right rarity brainrots with the Gold Box before transitioning to the Ice Zone is the most coin-efficient path. Check out the Steal a Brainrot complete brainrot tier list and rarity guide for a breakdown of which creatures are actually worth the investment.
How the Ice Zone changes the catch economy
The Ice Zone does not just introduce new brainrots. It resets the box meta entirely. The Snowbox at Level 9 is the entry point, and it is coins-only at 681, which makes it accessible right as you transition zones. The Snowman Box and Miner Box bridge the mid-game, with the Miner Box at 1,680 coins representing the steepest single upgrade in the chain.
The Frozen Box at Level 20 is the practical endgame option for players who are not spending Robux on Infinity Boxes. At 2,250 coins or 140 Robux, it handles the toughest creatures the late Ice Zone throws at you.
What most players miss is that the Ice Zone boxes are not interchangeable with the Grass Zone ones. A Snowbox will underperform against a high-level Grass Zone brainrot, and a Gold Box will struggle in the Ice Zone's later stages. Zone-matching your boxes is the key here.
Getting to the shop
All Rotboxes are sold inside the Rot Center, a dedicated building at the main hub of each zone. Both the Grass Zone and Ice Zone have their own Rot Centers, and both work the same way. Walk in, interact with the Shop NPC on the right side, and the catalog opens with every box available at your current level. You can pay with either Robux or in-game coins depending on what you have available.
The minimap in the top right corner also has a teleport shortcut directly to the Rot Center, which saves a lot of time once you are deep into grinding sessions.
For players serious about building the best possible roster, pairing the right Rotbox with a solid understanding of which brainrots are worth targeting is what separates efficient farmers from everyone else. The Steal a Brainrot tier list covering the best characters for stealing and farming is a solid reference point as the meta continues to develop.
