Introducing The Season 05 Battle Pass, BlackCell, And New Store Bundles For Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 And Call Of Duty: Warzone | MKAU Gaming

Season 4 barely had time to cool down before Activision dropped the full contents of the Black Ops 7 Season 5 battle pass, and there's a lot to unpack. The season goes live on July 23 across Black Ops 7 and Warzone, bringing two brand-new weapons, the return of a fan-favorite operator, and over 100 items spread across free and premium tiers. If you've been playing Call of Duty® 2 and following the franchise's evolution through its battle pass model, Season 5 is a good example of how that system has matured.

Spectre is back, and he's the instant unlock

Here's the thing: Activision knows exactly which operators carry nostalgia weight. Spectre, the stealth-focused wet works specialist first introduced in Black Ops 3, is the headline operator for Season 5. Purchasing the standard $10 battle pass gets you an instant unlock of Spectre along with a 10% Battle Pass XP Boost, the "Dawn Shred" Legendary Blueprint for the Voyak KT-3 Assault Rifle, the "Swift Talent" Emote, and the "Make an Entrance" Animated Calling Card.

Complete the entire pass and you unlock the "Viscera" Ultra Skin for Spectre, the "Fission Core" Legendary Carbon 57 SMG Blueprint, 200 CoD Points, and a couple of animated cosmetics to round things out.

Two free weapons: FG42 and Gremlin

Both new guns land in the free tiers of the pass, which is worth highlighting. You don't need to spend a dollar to get your hands on either of them.

The FG42 is a full-auto assault rifle described as well-rounded with average accuracy, mobility, and power. It unlocks as an HVT reward on page 3 of the battle pass. The Gremlin is a full-auto SMG built around great mobility and handling, unlocking as an HVT reward on page 6. Both weapons also receive BlackCell blueprint variants for premium pass holders, with the "Odium" blueprint for the FG42 sitting at page 15 and the "Adoptosis" blueprint for the Gremlin at page 12.

What most players miss is that HVT rewards are the free tier's best-kept secret. You're getting functional, meta-relevant weapons without touching the premium side.

BlackCell at $30: what you actually get

The $30 BlackCell bundle returns with its usual stack of premium exclusives. The instant unlocks include the "Cipher" BlackCell Operator Skin, the "Vindex" Mastercraft Blueprint for the Sturmwolf 45 SMG (complete with Tracers and Death FX), the "Riddlefang" Knife Melee Blueprint, 1,100 CoD Points, the "Meat Grinder" Finishing Move, and a handful of cosmetic extras like the "Phobia" Weapon Charm and the "BlackCell No. 5" HUD Theme.

BlackCell owners also unlock alternate skins for operators spread across all 15 pages, including BlackCell variants for T.E.D.D., Anderson, Dempsey, Richtofen, and Reaper EWR-3. The "General Chaos" skin for T.E.D.D. on page 2 is one of the more eye-catching cosmetics in the set.

tip
BlackCell owners earn challenge-based alternate blueprints for the Sturmwolf 45 SMG and Riddlefang Melee on top of the instant unlocks, adding replay value to the premium tier.

Everything else in the pass

Beyond the headliners, Season 5 fills out its 15 pages with a solid mix of cosmetics. Equipment skins include the "Armed Danger" Hunter Bot skin on page 8 and the "Guard Dog" Point Turret skin on page 15. New reticles, finishing moves like "Power Punch" and "Writhing Fury," sprays, emblems, calling cards, GobbleGums, and 2XP tokens round out the pass.

The key here is that the pass covers enough operator variety to feel relevant whether you main Richtofen, Grimm, Wei Lin, or Vermaak. Eight operators receive new skins across the standard and BlackCell tiers.

Season 5 is bigger than the battle pass

The pass is just one piece of the Season 5 picture. The update also brings new multiplayer maps, a brand-new Zombies map, and the return of Heavy Metal Heroes in Warzone's battle royale mode. For players who have followed Call of Duty's seasonal structure since the early days, the franchise has come a long way from simple map packs.

Pro tip: if you're planning to grind the pass, the completion page rewards are worth the effort. The "Viscera" Ultra Skin for Spectre is one of the better-looking skins in the pass, and the 200 CoD Points help offset the cost for the next season.

Season 5 drops July 23. For loadout breakdowns and weapon tier lists as the meta develops around the FG42 and Gremlin, check out the Call of Duty® 2 strategy guides or browse the broader gaming guides library for more.
