Swedish game developer Crypto Rogue Games has announced that the open beta for its hack-and-slash RPG Crystalfall will launch on December 13th. The beta was originally scheduled for an earlier release but has been rescheduled to avoid a direct clash with Path of Exile 2, which enters early access on December 6th. The decision reflects a calculated effort to maximize player attention during a crowded release window.

Crypto Rogue Games CEO Åke André addressed the timing shift with a touch of humor, stating, "We decided to change the date for the open beta since Path of Exile 2 ended up on the same date as us when they delayed. It almost felt personal that they changed the date," acknowledging the coincidence with Grinding Gear Games' own schedule adjustment.

Crystalfall: Steampunk RPG

Formerly titled Crystals of Naramunz, Crystalfall drops players into a steampunk-infused RPG setting where an asteroid impact has fractured the world and littered it with volatile crystal fragments. The game centers on dungeon crawling through hostile environments, demanding both tactical thinking and raw combat prowess to survive increasingly dangerous encounters.

Character customization runs deep in Crystalfall, letting players build around preferred combat styles through an itemization system that rewards experimentation. Skills are lootable and slotted into procedurally generated skill trees, meaning no two runs feel identical. The open beta will be free-to-play, lowering the barrier for players curious about the game's approach to action RPG mechanics.
