DARKTIMES, a free-to-play Nordic-inspired medieval Brawler Royale, is set to launch its alpha version in late 2024. Developed by Blowfish Studios, Animoca Brands' flagship game studio, in partnership with Mysten Labs, DARKTIMES has selected Sui as its blockchain platform. Sui, known for its advanced Layer 1 and smart contract capabilities, will enable a seamless gaming experience by abstracting away complex blockchain elements.

Game Overview and Features
DARKTIMES offers a fast-paced, multiplayer PvP experience with physics-based combat, skill trees, and progression elements that push it towards an RPG rather than a typical hyper-casual Battle Royale. Set in a medieval world filled with brutality and dark magic, the game combines dark fantasy with British pub humor and Tarantino-esque over-the-top violence.
The partnership with Sui allows DARKTIMES to provide a frictionless user experience, making it easier for both crypto-native and traditional gamers to engage with the game. The first playtest of DARKTIMES will be showcased at Korea Blockchain Week, with a broader alpha launch planned for later in the year.

Rune Run Campaign and NFT Rewards
DARKTIMES will also launch an interactive “play-to-play” campaign called Rune Run on August 30, in collaboration with major web3 gaming and crypto communities like Mocaverse, games.gg, and MON Protocol. Participants in Rune Run can win Genesis DARKTIMES NFTs, granting early access to the game and entry to advanced levels with larger prize pools and exclusive rewards.
