EMPULSE Early Access Launches June 24 on PC, PS5, and Xbox

EMPULSE - Gameplay

The movement shooter genre has been waiting for its next contender. EMPULSE, the 6v6 arena shooter from 1047 Games, is stepping up with an Early Access launch set for June 24, 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A playable demo dropped today, June 15, giving PC players a first taste before the full Early Access window opens.

What makes EMPULSE different from the rest

Movement is not a bonus feature here. It is the entire foundation. Players can wallrun, grapple, and launch with Holojumps, chaining abilities together to stay airborne and unpredictable. The closest comparison in feel is Titanfall, specifically the way that game rewarded players who committed to movement rather than treating it as an occasional trick.

Here's the thing: EMPULSE adds something Titanfall never did. P.A.I.N.T. bombs let players physically alter surfaces mid-match, opening up new traversal routes or shutting down the ones enemies are relying on. That environmental layer gives the movement system a strategic dimension that goes beyond raw mechanical skill.

Mech combat rounds out the package. Player-controllable mechs spawn on the map and bring heavy weapons and special abilities into the fight, shifting the tempo of a match in ways that keep 6v6 rounds from settling into predictable patterns.

The Early Access rollout across platforms

All three platforms launch simultaneously on June 24. PC players who want to get ahead can download the demo right now and start learning the movement system before the full Early Access build arrives.

For those jumping in on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, the game will be available through their respective storefronts on launch day. 1047 Games has confirmed day-one availability on all three platforms, so console players are not waiting on a delayed port.

tip
The EMPULSE demo is currently available on PC only. Console players will need to wait for the June 24 Early Access launch to get their first hands-on time with the game.

Who this game is built for

If Apex Legends movement ever felt like the best part of a game that kept pulling you back toward slower, more tactical play, EMPULSE is worth watching. The entire design philosophy prioritizes players who want to chain abilities, read the environment, and outmaneuver opponents rather than out-position them.

The 6v6 format keeps matches tight enough that individual movement skill has real impact, unlike larger battle royale formats where one player's mechanical ceiling matters less. What most players miss in early movement shooter previews is how much the format shapes the experience. Six players per side means every mech spawn, every P.A.I.N.T. bomb, and every Holojump sequence lands with weight.

1047 Games built its reputation on Splitgate, a shooter game that used portal mechanics to flip arena combat on its head. EMPULSE takes a different angle, swapping portals for a full movement toolkit and environmental manipulation, but the studio's instinct for mechanics that change how players think about space is clearly still driving the design.

What to watch for when Early Access opens

Early Access means the game is not finished, and 1047 Games will be leaning on player feedback to shape what comes next. The core systems are in place, but map variety, balance across movement abilities, and mech tuning are all areas where community input during this window will likely influence the final product.

For players who want to hit the ground running, brushing up on gaming guides for movement shooters before June 24 is a smart move. Understanding how to chain wallruns and grapples efficiently from day one puts you ahead of the curve in a game where movement mastery is the primary skill gap.

EMPULSE Early Access opens June 24. The demo is live now on PC for anyone who wants a head start before launch day.
