The web3 game development studio Etherplay has announced the launch of the alpha playtest for their latest creation, Stratagems, now live on Base. The game presents a novel take on turn-based strategy, leveraging blockchain technology to offer players an immersive experience with real stakes.
In Stratagems, participants strive to conquer prosperous land by staking ETH into islands placed across a vast map of the sea. Each turn spans 24 hours, during which players simultaneously place their stakes without insight into their opponent's moves. The objective is to avoid overlapping stakes, as this renders lands ownerless and non-prosperous. Collaboration between players is encouraged to navigate this strategic challenge effectively.
Playtest, Reewards and Prize Pool
The playtest, scheduled to run for two months, is divided into two phases, each lasting one month. From March 21st to April 21st, players have the opportunity to establish their dominance by claiming as many lands as possible. In the subsequent phase, scores will be determined based on the accumulation of GEMS, distributed according to each player's ownership of prosperous lands.
While future iterations of the game will require ETH stakes to participate, this alpha phase is free-to-play, with players obtaining game tokens through Stratagems' Discord channel. Additionally, at the end of the two-month playtest, the top five players with the highest GEMS will receive rewards from a $1,000 prize pool.
