Pixion Games has rolled out details for Season 4 of Fableborne, its mobile action RPG that blends hack-and-slash combat with base-building strategy. The studio recently relaunched its Dev Diary series with plans for bi-weekly updates covering recent progress, active development work, and what's coming next. The first Dev Diary entry outlines the headline features for Season 4 and teases what lies beyond.

Fableborne mixes hack-and-slash RPG mechanics with base raids and defensive strategy. Players engage in both PvP and PvE battles, building out their kingdom while raiding others. The game received a visual overhaul in May 2024, sharpening its identity as an esports-focused, mobile-first RPG.

Season 4 brings Ability Tomes and two new playable characters. Ability Tomes let players swap out hero abilities mid-raid, adding tactical flexibility. Instead of being locked into preset skills, you can now adjust your loadout depending on the situation. The first wave of tomes includes Arcane Ball, Rumble, Focus Area, and Self-heal. Three more—Hammer of Justice, Crossbow Turret, and Curse—are still in development, though it's unclear if they'll arrive during Season 4 or later.

The two new characters are the Sorceress and the Transformer. The Sorceress is an elite defensive unit who uses dark magic to hold the line. She appeared in a recent playtest. The Transformer, revealed in late May, is a vanguard unit capable of mid-range attacks, teleportation when enemies get close, and healing or transformation abilities that shift the flow of combat. Both units are designed to expand strategic options and add variety to raid compositions.

POWER Chests and POWER Bounties

Season 4 introduces two web3-focused systems: POWER Chests and POWER Bounties. Both are built to tie the free-to-play experience more directly into the $POWER token ecosystem. POWER Chests function as lootboxes with a chance to drop exclusive items, including the Legendary Kingdom NFT—a piece Pixion Games recently acquired on OpenSea for 7140 Ronin RON.

POWER Bounties add a layer of evolving challenges during raids. Described as a "living challenge layer," these bounties shift as you play, creating unpredictability and progression. Completing bounties fills the War Rune, which can then be cracked open for in-game rewards. Full details on how these systems work haven't been released yet, but both represent a clear push to deepen Fableborne's blockchain-based reward structure.

Plans for Season 5 and Future Updates

The Dev Diary briefly touches on Season 5, which will introduce a new hero currently called Flame Fist. She's described as an agile melee fighter who uses martial arts to chain together combination attacks. More details will come in future updates.

Looking further ahead, Pixion Games is working on features that give players more control over their kingdom's layout and defenses. One planned addition is the ability to reposition rooms within your base, adding new strategic depth to how you defend against raids. The studio is also exploring expanded character customization, including the ability to equip characters multiple times or modify their appearance. Design work for this feature is already underway.

Ongoing Engagement and Development Funding

Pixion Games is using the Dev Diary format to keep players informed on development progress and long-term plans. The updates follow the studio's earlier announcement of $12.4 million in funding, which supports the $POWER token launch and ongoing development efforts.

Fableborne positions itself as a hybrid experience that appeals to both blockchain enthusiasts and strategy game players. No official release date for Season 4 has been announced. More information is expected in upcoming Dev Diary entries.
