Fantasy World Manager comes out in Early Access on Steam on 28 October 2026, and I’ve just added it to my wishlist. It looks like a fantasy world builder, like Civilization but in a quicker format, and it really appeals to me. I’ve played other games like this, and this one looks very cool.

When is Fantasy World Manager coming out?

Fantasy World Manager is coming out on 28 October 2026, in Early Access on Steam for Windows (Steam). It’s made by Florian Alushaj and published by Legendary Pixels. Steam hadn’t listed a price when I wrote this, and that’s the first thing I want to know.

The developer says it will stay in Early Access for “about a year or so”. He also plans to raise the price slightly when the game leaves Early Access, and says Early Access players will get it at the lower introductory price. That makes Early Access the cheaper way in.

What is Fantasy World Manager?

Fantasy World Manager is, in Steam’s words, “the ultimate, gamified tool for creating, simulating, and observing living fantasy worlds”. You build a world on a massive scale, set the rules, and watch it come to life, with heroes going on adventures and fighting battles for control. It’s single-player, and it comes with its own level editor.

The developer says the Early Access version is already fully playable. You can make huge worlds with 18 classes and 21 biomes, plus races, cultures, religions, factions, NPCs, creatures, monsters, items, weapons and armour. The editors that are already in cover:

  • the exterior map, points of interest and zones
  • races, cultures, religions and factions
  • NPCs, animals and monsters
  • items, weapons, armour and accessories

On top of those editors there’s creature control and the world simulation underneath it all. The developer calls this the core worldbuilding and simulation foundation, with a lot still to expand and refine during Early Access (Steam).

Is Fantasy World Manager like Civilization?

Fantasy World Manager looks like Civilization to me, but in a quicker format. I’ve got 41 hours in Civilization V and about 16 in Civilization VI, and I like the graphic style of this one as well. I’ve tried to make things like this before.

The difference is in what you do. In Civ you play one nation from the ground up. Fantasy World Manager’s own pitch is about creating the world, simulating it and observing it, so you’re closer to the person setting the board up than one of the players on it. For the record, my girlfriend and I went back to Civ 5 after one game of Civ 6.

Is Fantasy World Manager my kind of game?

Fantasy World Manager does look like my kind of game, going by my hours in RimWorld. I’ve got 1,208 hours in RimWorld, the colony sim where your settlers’ stories come out of the simulation rather than a script.

And not just RimWorld. I’d say Civilization too, and Crusader Kings: all the ones where it’s more the diplomatic side of being a ruler. Fantasy World Manager has cultures, religions and factions as their own editors, so the pieces for that kind of story are there from the start.

Is Fantasy World Manager on mobile?

Fantasy World Manager isn’t listed for mobile. Its Steam page lists Windows only, with no Mac or Linux version either, and it’s a single-player game with Steam Cloud saves (Steam). There’s no demo on the Steam page.

It does support a long list of languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Simplified Chinese. If you were hoping to build worlds on your phone, that isn’t on the cards for launch.

Should you buy Fantasy World Manager in Early Access?

Buying Fantasy World Manager in Early Access depends on the price for me. I didn’t know it was coming to Early Access until I looked, and I might do it. I’ve added it to my wishlist, so when we know how much it costs, it might be worth it on day one.

For the full version, the developer plans more classes, more editors and customisation options, a better simulation and deeper links between the systems already there. He’d also like to try more game modes and possibly Steam Workshop support, so players can make and share their own content. He’s gathering feedback through the Steam Community Hub forums and Discord, and says the community will have a real say in where the game goes.
