Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 launched this week, and while Epic Games already loaded the Override season with collabs and new mechanics, players are already looking ahead. Specifically, at a suspicious building on the map that has a lot of people saying the same thing: Five Nights at Freddy's is coming.
The building that started everything
Somewhere in the Chapter 7 Season 4 map sits an unfinished structure that looks unmistakably like the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza location from the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. The building is visibly under construction, which tracks with how Epic typically teases upcoming collabs, slowly building out a location over the course of a season before the actual content drops. What really got people talking, though, is the interior. There's a stage inside. A stage in a half-built pizzeria is not exactly subtle.
The FNAF social media account added more fuel by posting a cryptic image that fans immediately interpreted as a Fortnite tease. Nothing was spelled out directly, but the timing alongside the in-game discovery is hard to dismiss as coincidence.
Why Fortnitemares makes this timing make sense
Here's the thing: the Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass already shows the season end date as October 31. That's Halloween. Fortnitemares, Fortnite's annual horror-themed event, has historically been the game's biggest collab window of the year, and landing a season finale on Halloween gives Epic the perfect excuse to go all out.
Five Nights at Freddy's is one of the most requested collabs the game has never done. The horror angle fits Fortnitemares perfectly, the franchise has a massive fanbase that overlaps heavily with Fortnite players, and the animatronic characters would translate well into skins. The pieces fit.
There's also the broader context of how this season is structured. Chapter 7 Season 4 is themed around gaming legends, with Lobby Hacks and in-game Overrides as core mechanics. What comes after Season 4
The season ending on October 31 also feeds into another theory circulating among the player base. The expectation is that the final season of Chapter 7, which follows Season 4, will be a shorter mini-season, similar to what happened at the end of Chapter 6 when The Simpsons took over for a condensed finale run. If that pattern holds, Season 4 becomes even more important as the last full-length season of the chapter, and a Halloween ending with a major FNAF collab would be a memorable way to close it out.
The under-construction pizzeria will almost certainly evolve as the season progresses. Epic has used this technique before, letting a location sit incomplete for weeks before it suddenly becomes the center of a major content drop. Players will be watching that building closely.
