G3 AMA with Might & Magic Fates TCG

Ubisoft’s upcoming trading card game, Might & Magic: Fates TCG, took center stage in our latest G3 AMA (Ask me Anything) session, giving players a better look at how the studio is approaching the genre. The session covered everything from gameplay systems and deck mechanics to cosmetic features, crossovers, and Ubisoft’s optional web3 integrations. The AMA is part of our weekly Friday lineup, where web3 gaming projects join our G3 community to share updates, answer player questions, and take part in the now-famous dad joke showdown with Uncle Hub.

What Is Might & Magic: Fates TCG?

Might & Magic: Fates TCG is Ubisoft’s entry into the trading card game space, built around the legendary Might & Magic universe. It combines classic deck-building with strategic resource management and hero-based gameplay. Players will choose from multiple factions, each with its own strengths and playstyle, then build decks centered around heroes who can level up during matches. These hero progressions open new abilities mid-battle, giving each match a dynamic and evolving pace.

A gold-based resource system lies at the heart of the gameplay. Every decision on when to play or hold cards ties into this mechanic, rewarding players who can manage their in-game economy effectively. The result is a TCG mix that feels familiar yet fresh, blending Hearthstone’s traditional TCG flow with Legends of Runeterra’s hero level-up mechanics and an added layer of economic strategy through gold management.

Highlights from the AMA

Core Gameplay and Mechanics

During the AMA, the developers explained how Fates blends classic TCG elements with new twists. Deck archetypes such as Aggro, Control, and Midrange are all present, but with added complexity through the gold system, which determines what cards can be played at any given time.

This approach makes Fates more than just a standard card game. Every move carries weight, and managing resources becomes as important as building a strong deck. It’s the kind of mechanic that gives long-term depth for players who enjoy optimization and strategy.

Web3 Integration

The team emphasized that Might & Magic: Fates is built using the Immutable blockchain, but its web3 elements are completely optional. Players who want to stick to a traditional web2 experience can still build their collection and compete normally without touching any blockchain features.

For players interested in ownership and trading, Ubisoft has already introduced the Key Founder Bundle NFTs, which sold out quickly. These bundles included exclusive cards, cosmetics, and early access perks. The NFTs are fully tradeable through Immutable marketplaces like TokenTrove, and future updates will allow players to mint and trade cards directly from the game.

Cosmetics and Customization

Might & Magic: Fates will feature a range of cosmetic options to help players personalize their decks. These include unique card backs, visual spell effects, and hero skins that let players show off their style during matches. The team highlighted that cosmetics are purely aesthetic, designed to enhance player expression without affecting gameplay.

Crossover Potential

When asked about crossovers, the developers hinted that collaboration across Ubisoft’s ecosystem is on the table. With Champions Tactics, Ubisoft’s other web3 game, sharing the same infrastructure, future crossovers between titles could happen naturally.

The team didn’t rule out appearances from other Ubisoft franchises either. The idea of Assassin’s Creed-themed cosmetics or hero skins was even brought up during the AMA, getting the crowd excited. While nothing has been confirmed, the potential for Might & Magic: Fates to connect with other Ubisoft IPs gives the project extra room for creative updates and collaborations down the line.

Final Thoughts

The AMA gave players a clearer look at how Ubisoft is stepping back into the TCG scene with Might & Magic: Fates TCG, combining classic mechanics with new systems that reward strategy and smart deck building. The team also showed how they’re handling web3 integration in a player-first way, keeping it optional for those who just want to play while offering real ownership features for those who want to go deeper.

It also highlighted how the G3 Discord has become one of the best places for genuine conversations between developers and the gaming community. Each AMA brings a new project into the spotlight, opens the floor for questions, and keeps things light with a few laughs along the way.

Our AMAs happen every Friday, giving players a chance to meet teams, learn more about upcoming games, and even walk away with prizes. If you missed this one, you can catch the next session on the games.gg Discord. Jump in, ask your questions, hang out with other players, and maybe drop a dad joke or two while you’re at it.
