GTA 6 Screenshots - : r/IrelandGaming

Two short gameplay clips of Grand Theft Auto 6 surfaced online today, posted by a group calling itself Cyberleek, and they are already being hit with DMCA takedowns from Rockstar. That response alone tells you something. Unconfirmed leaks get ignored, while legitimate ones get lawyers (just saying).

The clips are mundane in the best possible way. No cinematic set-pieces, no trailer polish. Just Jason, one of GTA 6's two protagonists, shooting hoops outside his waterfront house and then going full road-rage on a delivery driver before fleeing the cops. Exactly the kind of footage a QA tester would capture. Exactly the kind of thing Rockstar does not want you seeing nine weeks before launch.

Here is everything worth noting from what made it online before the takedowns started flying - none of this is confirmed, so take everything from this point onwards with a pinch of salt.

The HUD tells a completely different story than GTA 5

GTA 6 Screenshots - : r/IrelandGaming

The biggest takeaway from these clips is not any single mechanic. It is how much the HUD has expanded. GTA 5's interface was minimal. What is visible here looks much closer to Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of information density, which makes sense given that Rockstar has been leaning into simulation depth across its recent work.

Here is what was spotted on-screen:

  • Stamina meter: Visible the moment Jason starts throwing punches. By the time he picks up a wrench and goes to work on the delivery driver, it hits zero. Screen edges vignette when empty, suggesting a movement or combat penalty kicks in.
  • Two money values: $39 in cash and $1,643 next to a house icon. The house amount has a circle around it that is barely filled, which could mean the rent is due or represent a savings/stash balance similar to GTA Online's bank account.
  • Vehicle fuel and engine meters: Cars now have a gas gauge and an engine condition indicator. A popular GTA 5 mod added this exact feature, and Rockstar has apparently baked it into the base game. The vehicle menu also shows "loadout" and "storage 0/4" options in the trunk.
  • Police ID system: When wanted, the HUD shows three identification categories in the top right corner: clothing (hanger icon), appearance (blank face icon), and vehicle (car icon). Changing your outfit, repainting your car, or swapping vehicles while wanted should help you lose the heat.
  • 6-star wanted level: That is one star more than GTA 5. Beating a delivery driver to death with a pipe wrench earns a two-star response, for context.

The morality system nobody expected

This is where it gets interesting. As Jason beats the already-unconscious delivery driver, a small devil icon with a minus symbol appears on the right side of the screen. It does not show up when the fight starts. It only appears once Jason is kicking a man who is clearly down.

The game apparently does not flag you for starting a brawl. It flags you for senseless, one-sided violence against someone who can no longer fight back. That is a more nuanced moral trigger than most GTA players would expect from the series, and it lines up directly with how Red Dead Redemption 2 handled honor. RDR2 did not punish you for killing enemies in combat. It punished you for shooting a fleeing man in the back.

If GTA 6 is using a similar framework, player behavior during open-world encounters could have actual consequences beyond just wanted stars.

important
These clips appear to come from an earlier build of the game. Specific values, icons, and systems visible in the leaked footage may have changed ahead of the November 19 launch.

Stat progression that looks borrowed from Arthur Morgan

In the basketball clip, Jason sinks a shot and earns +2% Focus. That is a direct callback to the way Arthur Morgan's stats worked in RDR2, where activities like hunting, fishing, and physical exertion gradually improved relevant attributes.

Focus in GTA 6 almost certainly ties to some version of bullet time or precision aiming, given the name. The implication is that playing basketball, working out, or doing other leisure activities will slowly build Jason's combat effectiveness. Lucia presumably has her own stat progression running in parallel.

Stealth as an actual option

After the fight, when the cops roll up, a blue arrow indicator appears that tracks how close law enforcement is to spotting the player. This is new for GTA. Previous entries gave you a wanted cone of vision to work with, but a dedicated stealth indicator suggests the game is building out a genuine stealth layer, not just a slightly more forgiving version of hiding behind a dumpster.

Based on how the clip plays out, the detection window is fairly generous even when the player is not making much effort to hide. That suggests stealth is a real option for players who want to approach situations differently.

Basketball minigame timing rings

Everything else the map and clips revealed

Beyond the core mechanics, the leaked Leonida map and both clips contained a pile of smaller details:

  • Basketball minigame: Uses a "press when the rings overlap" timing system.
  • Player character map tracking: When playing as Lucia, Jason's location is visible on the map as a car icon with a "J" marker. In GTA 5, you had no idea where the other protagonists were unless you swapped to them. This is a meaningful quality-of-life change for a dual-protagonist structure.
  • Race tracks: Several small circuits are visible across Leonida on the map. Racing looks like it will be an activity or income source.
  • Jason's house location: Sits in southern Leonida on one of the Keys islands.
  • Possible military base: A smaller airport at the far end of the Keys, separate from the large Vice City airport, could be the spot to steal military vehicles.
  • In-world brands spotted: Sea Shark (jet ski), Scoop (the delivery company Jason assaults), 24/7 Supermarket, Arrow (gas station), Hamilton Private Health Clinic, and Fast Pass EMS on an ambulance.
  • Radio: The song playing during the road-rage clip is "Impact" by SG Lewis, Robin, and Channel Tres (if you care).

The Cyberleek situation

The group behind the leak published a manifesto alongside the footage, framing the release as a consumer rights protest. Their demands target digital preorders, locked single-player DLC, and the removal of offline modes for single-player games. Rockstar's response has been swift DMCA action, which is the loudest possible confirmation that this footage is, probably, real.

The official GTA 6 gameplay reveal is scheduled to debut on Netflix on August 27, so the timing here is not accidental. Rockstar was nine days away from controlling the narrative entirely. Whether Cyberleek has more footage sitting in reserve is the question the community is now asking.

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. If you want to lock in your copy ahead of launch, the GTA 6 pre-order guide has everything you need on editions, platforms, and pricing.
