John Wick arrived in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 with a pen-and-ink makeover and a companion that most battle pass owners probably didn't expect: his pit bull. The dog, which John Wick adopted at the end of the first film, is a sidekick on the Chapter 7 Season 3 battle pass, but you won't unlock it simply by grinding levels.
There's a short quest standing between you and the dog, and the game doesn't tell you where to go. Here's the lowdown.
The quest that doesn't give you directions
The quest description reads: "Rescue or pet John Wick's dog." That's it. No map marker, no waypoint, no hint at a specific location. For anyone jumping in blind, that vagueness is the only real obstacle here because the quest itself takes about 30 seconds once you know where to land.
The dog is at Sinister Strip, inside the main lobby of the large casino that carried over from the previous version of the POI. On the map, look just below the POI name to find the casino building.

What to do when you get there
Inside the casino lobby, you'll find the dog locked in a small cage at the center of the room. Two NPC guards are standing nearby, so expect a brief fight before you can interact with the cage. Once the area is clear, click on the cage to open it.
Here's the thing: the dog doesn't disappear after the first player frees it. Once the cage is opened, the pit bull sticks around the area for the rest of the match, letting any other players walk up and pet him to complete their own quest. No racing other players, no competing over a single spawn.
The dog sidekick is tied to the Chapter 7 Season 3 battle pass. You'll need to have purchased the pass to actually unlock the cosmetic, even after completing the quest.
There are no level requirements attached to this quest, which makes it one of the more accessible unlocks in the current pass. Land at Sinister Strip early, clear the guards, open the cage, and the sidekick is yours.
The battle pass controversy worth knowing about
Not everyone has been thrilled about John Wick's inclusion in this season's pass. The original John Wick skin has been available in the Fortnite item shop for seven years, so some longtime players feel the pen-and-ink variant in the battle pass is a redundant addition dressed up as something new. That frustration is fair, but the dog sidekick is a genuinely separate cosmetic that wasn't previously available in any form.
The pit bull is the more interesting addition for players who already own the original skin, and the quest to get it is one of the least demanding in the pass.
More to do in Chapter 7 Season 3
If you're working through the season's quest list, the dog unlock is a good warm-up. Chapter 7 Season 3 has brought a reworked map with several new and returning POIs alongside a full slate of weekly quests. For players still getting their bearings, the Fortnite guides collection covers the season's key quests and locations in detail, including things like finding all Zero Point Shards for The Foundation quest if you want to knock out multiple objectives in a single session.
The dog quest has no time limit tied to it beyond the season itself, so there's no urgency, but getting it done early means you can focus on the heavier quest chains without it sitting in your backlog.
