Krafton, the South Korean gaming publisher recognized for games like PUBG: Battlegrounds and Defense Derby, has unveiled a groundbreaking project in collaboration with Naver Z, previously known as Project Migaloo, now re-named Overdare.
Overdare marks a significant leap in the realm of mobile web3 gaming. The project harnesses Unreal Engine 5 and incorporates generative AI technology, empowering users to craft web3 games spanning various genres, including action RPGs, sports, and shooters. Beyond gameplay, the platform encourages a sense of community, offering avatar customization and in-app chat functionality.
A standout feature of Overdare will be its Create-to-Earn (C2E) system. Users can purchase and possess digital assets created by others within the metaverse, all facilitated by NFTs and blockchain technology. Settlus has been chosen as the blockchain mainnet for NFT licensing, and creators can earn revenue through the USDC stablecoin.
The joint venture entails a substantial investment of 48 billion Korean Won (KRW), with Krafton contributing 40.8 billion KRW and Naver Z providing 7.2 billion KRW. Post-acquisition, Krafton will hold an 85% majority stake, leaving Naver Z with a 15% share.
Excitingly, Overdare is on the horizon with a soft launch planned for December, followed by a full global release in the first half of the coming year. It promises to reshape mobile gaming by offering a unique blend of creativity, community, and cutting-edge technology within a single metaverse.
