Tarsier Studios' atmospheric horror platformer Little Nightmares II has finally made its way to Nintendo Switch 2, with the Enhanced Edition now live on the platform as of today.
The Enhanced Edition first launched on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC back in 2021, making this a five-year wait for Nintendo's new hardware. On those platforms, the upgrade was handed out free to existing owners. Switch 2 players don't get that same deal since the Enhanced Edition is the only version of the game available on the console, priced at approximately $32.
What the Enhanced Edition actually adds
The visual and audio overhaul is the main draw here. Ray-traced reflections give Pale City's grimy surfaces a genuinely unsettling sheen, and the bump in resolution paired with higher-detail interactive particles makes the game's already oppressive atmosphere feel heavier. Loading times are also improved, which matters more than you might expect in a game that punishes you with frequent restarts.
The audio side gets equal attention. A new enhanced 3D soundscape mix reworks how the game's sound design lands, pulling you deeper into the creaking, droning horror of every environment. For a game where tension lives as much in what you hear as what you see, that's not a small thing.
Five years on and still worth the fear
Little Nightmares 2 sold over a million copies within its first month back in 2021, and its reputation as one of the better adventure games of that generation has only solidified since. The Enhanced Edition on Switch 2 gives a new audience a clean entry point, and the hardware's performance capabilities mean this is genuinely the best portable version of the game that has ever existed.
The game's blend of puzzle-platforming and psychological horror holds up. Pale City's grotesque residents, the relentless tension of every chase sequence, and the story's bleak final act are all intact and arguably hit harder with the visual and audio improvements in place.

The bigger picture for Switch 2 horror fans
This launch slots into a broader wave of enhanced ports arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 as publishers test the hardware's appetite for upgraded last-gen titles. For fans of dark, atmospheric platformers, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition is one of the stronger additions to the library so far.
With Little Nightmares 3 currently in development at Supermassive Games, now is a reasonable time to revisit or experience the second game for the first time. The Enhanced Edition on Switch 2 is the definitive portable way to do it. If you want to get the most out of the experience before jumping in, the Little Nightmares II guide collection covers the game's trickier sections in full.
