Nexon’s web3 initiative, MapleStory Universe, has reached a significant milestone ahead of the release of its first game. Since opening the public mint for its MSU Scroll NFTs on May 6, the project has experienced strong community engagement. Within the first eight hours of the mint, 100,000 NFTs were claimed. This figure rose to 300,000 within twelve hours. As of now, the total number of minted NFTs has surpassed 800,000, indicating growing interest in the ecosystem.

The MSU Scrolls, deployed on the Avalanche blockchain, are distributed free of charge through the NFT marketplace OpenSea. To ensure broad distribution, each wallet is limited to claiming a single NFT. The scrolls are intended to provide utility in the form of in-game items for MapleStory N, a PC MMORPG and the first official title to launch under the MapleStory Universe brand. The minting period remains open to the public until May 12, allowing more users to participate before the game’s launch on May 15.

Additional data released by Nexpace, the division of Nexon leading the web3 development of MapleStory Universe, shows further signs of community activity during the project’s testnet phase. The MSU testnet attracted a total of 972,000 unique wallets throughout the playtest period. This level of participation places MapleStory Universe among the few web3 game projects to approach one million users during a pre-release testing phase.
Player interaction metrics also indicate sustained engagement. Of the in-game tokens available during the testnet, 76 percent were spent, suggesting that participants were actively exploring game features and systems. In total, 506,000 players interacted with the MSU testnet. Notably, one in two users maintained consistent activity with MapleStory N, reinforcing interest in the title ahead of its full release.
