Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days officially launches October 6, but the discounts are not waiting. Early offers are already live across Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, covering everything from Nintendo Switch 2 accessories to PS5 headsets and Xbox controllers. The sales window runs through October 8, though price cuts from this event have historically continued rolling through November.
What's already discounted before the event even starts
The headline early movers are worth paying attention to. The Turtle Beach Atlas 200 wired headset for PS5 has dropped to $34.99 from $59.99, which is its lowest price of the year. The Thrustmaster T248 X racing wheel is down to $239.99 from $299.99 at Amazon, a record-low rate that has only appeared briefly earlier this year before bouncing back toward the $300 mark.
On the Switch 2 side, the Belkin Charging Case with its built-in 10,000mAh power bank is at $56.51 (down from $69.99), and first-party Nintendo games are seeing rare post-launch movement. Kirby Air Riders is sitting $10 off its $59.99 MSRP, which almost never happens with Nintendo titles after release day. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake pre-order has also dropped $10 to $59.88 ahead of its November 5 launch, with the foil cover physical edition unlikely to be restocked at that price.
For Xbox fans, the Hyperkin Competitor officially licensed controller is at its lowest price yet at $44.99. It is a modest $5 saving, but record-lows on licensed peripherals rarely go deeper even during Black Friday. The GameSir Super Nova wireless controller for Switch 2 and PC is also back at its typical sale floor at Best Buy, making it one of the better value options in the sub-$35 controller category.
PC players are not left out. The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro has come down to $89.99, sitting just a dollar above its all-time low of $88.99 from June of last year. Resident Evil Requiem is seeing its first $20 discount since its 2026 launch, having previously only ever dipped to the $50-plus range.
The retailer pile-on is already happening
Here's the thing about October Prime Day: Amazon is rarely the only player. Best Buy's TechTober sale launched in parallel, and Walmart has been pushing competing discounts throughout the week. Amazon has been price-matching several of those offers ahead of its official start, which explains why some deals are live now rather than at midnight on October 6.
This retailer competition is genuinely good news for buyers. It means the best price on any given item might not actually be on Amazon, even during Amazon's own sale.
Should you buy now or hold for Black Friday
The honest answer is that it depends on what you are looking at. The trend over the past few years shows that many Prime Day discounts get recycled into Black Friday, with the same percentage cuts reappearing in November. What Black Friday typically adds is wider coverage, with more products going on sale rather than existing deals going significantly deeper.
If you are eyeing something that is currently at a record-low or its best price of the year, the gap between now and Black Friday is unlikely to be dramatic. If you are waiting on a specific item that has not moved yet, November may bring the first meaningful cut.
With Gears of War: E-Day dropping on October 6 across Xbox and PC, this is also a decent window to grab any Xbox hardware or accessories before launch-week demand tightens supply on certain deals. Check whether Gears of War: E-Day is included on your Xbox Game Pass tier before spending on a standalone copy.
The two-day official sale closes at midnight heading into October 8, but the broader savings season is just getting started. For more gaming coverage across new releases and hardware, the gaming guides hub has you covered through the season.
