Obitus Games has announced the launch of the Crystal Fragments Season in OverKnights, a play to airdrop (P2A) event scheduled to begin in early September and conclude in mid-November. The season allows players to take part in daily and weekly tasks to earn tradable Fragments, which can be converted into tickets that determine allocations of the upcoming $OVC token airdrop. At the same time, players can compete on leaderboards for additional $IMX rewards.

OverKnights is a free-to-play card battler that blends mech-building with turn-based card combat. Players assemble a humanoid robot from swappable components while constructing a deck for strategic battles. Each match plays out with cinematic animations that bring card actions to life, creating tactical duels where you dismantle your opponent's mech while defending your own.
Winning matches unlocks new cards, mech parts, and progression items. The game is backed by Immutable and Sequence and is currently available in open alpha on the Epic Games Store for Windows PCs.
Players can jump in without linking a wallet or engaging with blockchain features, but connecting an Immutable Passport unlocks web3 components, including the ability to earn USDC through leaderboard competitions. The Crystal Fragments Season builds on this by tying gameplay progression directly to token-based airdrop opportunities.

Crystal Fragments and $OVC Token
The Crystal Fragments Season is a play to airdrop event built around competition and consistency. Participants earn allocations of the $OVC token, which launches in mid to late November following the token generation event (TGE).
The season is split into multiple shorter segments with breaks in between. This gives players several chances to rejoin without falling behind if they miss the opening phase.
Leaderboards distribute $IMX tokens, but climbing rankings isn't the only way to benefit. Accumulating Fragments through tasks provides an alternative reward path, making the event accessible to both casual and competitive participants.

Fragment Shards vs Rare Fragment Crystals
Once the event starts, participants earn Quantum Caches by completing daily and weekly tasks. Daily tasks grant one Cache, while weekly tasks provide three. Each Cache contains a random allocation of Fragments, either Fragment Shards or Rare Fragment Crystals.
These NFTs convert into tickets, which determine each player's $OVC token allocation once the TGE happens. Players who don't convert their Fragments into tickets can trade them on secondary markets or redeem them for pre-sale items in the in-game store. Holding certain Fragments until the season ends may also result in additional $IMX rewards. The reward system operates on two loot tables.
All players access the Free Player Loot Table, while those who purchase the Pilot Badge unlock a separate loot table with higher-value rewards. The Pilot Badge is a tradable VIP pass limited to one per account. It also contributes to a shared prize pool distributed at the end of each season. Genesis Pilot NFT holders receive reward multipliers, giving them extra benefits during the event.

Final Thoughts
Alongside Fragment collection, players can compete on ELO-based and social leaderboards. Strong performance in these rankings yields additional token rewards, including $IMX. The game also features referral bonuses and may expand to include USDC rewards. This multi-path approach encourages both competitive gameplay and community participation.
The exact nature of the daily and weekly tasks hasn't been specified yet, but they're expected to include both gameplay-based and social objectives. With the Crystal Fragments Season beginning in early September, players can prepare by downloading OverKnights on the Epic Games Store and practicing their strategies ahead of the event. The season bridges the gap toward the launch of the $OVC token.
