Pokémon 30th Anniversary Leaked Cards (34 Revealed So Far) | SawadeeKard – Sawadeekard

The Pokemon TCG 30th Anniversary set was already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated expansions in the card game's history. Then a single leaked card threatened to derail the hype entirely.

A Mew RGB rare has surfaced from what appears to be an early opening of 30th Anniversary product, and the reaction from the Pokemon TCG community has been... let's call it spirited. Some collectors are convinced the card is an outright fake. Others believe it's real and simply hate the look of it. Very few are sitting in the middle.

What the RGB rare actually looks like

Here's the lowdown: the card features an embossed green Mew set against a dark blue background. The colors are essentially inverted from what you'd expect, with Mew's signature pink flipped to green and the gold tones replaced with blue. The closest comparison in the existing card pool is the Victini from Black Bolt and White Flare, but even that card has a warmer, more cohesive feel. This Mew RGB rare looks clinical by comparison.

The new RGB rarity sits alongside the already-announced FUR rarity as a second new rarity type in the 30th Anniversary set. Where FUR rares carry a tactile, textured personality that collectors seem to enjoy, the RGB variant is drawing far less enthusiasm.

The 30th Anniversary set is scheduled for a September release. Cards surfacing now are coming from early product that has somehow reached collectors ahead of the official launch date.

The community is genuinely split in two

The debate broke out fast across Reddit's Pokemon TCG communities. One camp is firmly in the "this is fake" corner, pointing to missing copyright info, absent set stamps, border coloring that doesn't match the rest of the set, and print quality that looks off. "Fake as hell," wrote one user, citing the lack of stamp and what they described as clear texture and print issues. Another called it "one of those popular fake cards" that circulate online before major set releases.

The other camp accepts the card is real but wants nothing to do with it aesthetically. "Holy f**k, this is one of the ugliest cards I've seen the TCG do in a while," one collector wrote. "My immediate reaction was a loud, 'EEEEEEW!'" reads another comment, which honestly does a better job of summarizing the vibe than any measured critique could.

The key here is that neither side is particularly enthusiastic. Whether collectors think it's a fake or just an ugly genuine card, the result is the same: the Mew RGB rare is not generating the kind of excitement The Pokemon Company would want from a 30th Anniversary pull.

What the 30th Anniversary set still has going for it

To be fair, one divisive card shouldn't overshadow what is otherwise a genuinely exciting expansion. The set includes a subset of 30 different Pikachu cards drawn by various TCG artists across the game's history, reprints of beloved older cards with updated borders (including the Paldea Evolved Magikarp, the Gengar Prime from HeartGold SoulSilver Triumphant, and the Crystal Lugia from Aquapolis), plus a full spread of new cards that have been well-received in earlier reveals.

The 30th Anniversary products have already proven that demand is through the roof, with earlier drops selling at up to 7x retail price before the set even hits shelves in September. Scalpers are going to scalp regardless of card quality, but a genuinely beloved set would at least mean collectors feel good about what they're chasing.

What most players miss is that new rarity types always generate controversy on first reveal. The FUR rarity had its skeptics too. The difference here is that the FUR cards look distinctive and premium, while the RGB Mew reads more like a color experiment gone sideways.

The 30th Anniversary set drops in September. Between now and then, expect more cards to leak, more community debates to ignite, and more early products to hit resale platforms at prices that will make your eyes water.
