What Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles actually is
Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles comes from Little Leo Games and published by Akupara Games. The elevator pitch is simple: it's a roguelike that throws out the standard card deck and replaces it with dice. That single swap changes everything about how the game plays.
You pick one of 6 Oracles, each with their own dice pools and distinct abilities. From there, every run has you building a collection from a pool of more than 350 dice, and you can modify individual die faces to control what actions can come up on a given roll. The key here is the Purification and Corruption system. Purification can damage enemies or heal your Oracle. Corruption can hurt you or heal enemies, but it also triggers certain abilities, so deliberately taking Corruption hits becomes part of the strategy rather than something to avoid.
The game had a brief 24-hour window on Epic back in December 2024. Anyone who missed it then gets a full seven days this time.

Mechabellum and the art of pre-battle planning
The second free game takes a completely different direction. Mechabellum, developed by Game River and published by Dreamhaven, is a tactical auto-battler where most of the real thinking happens before a single shot is fired.
Before each round, you select units, arrange your formation, and customize your mechs for specific roles. Once the round starts, your army fights automatically. What keeps it from feeling passive is the counter-building loop: you watch what your opponent fields, then adjust your army composition and upgrades between rounds to exploit their weaknesses. Simply stacking the most powerful units rarely works.
The game supports 1v1, 2v2, and four-player free-for-all modes. Rift Mode adds shifting rules between rounds to stop any single strategy from dominating. This is Mechabellum's first appearance as an Epic Games Store giveaway.

What makes this particular giveaway interesting is that the two games don't overlap at all. Astrea rewards players who enjoy building systems and finding dice combinations across multiple runs. For context, Astrea previously appeared on the Epic store for just a single day. The extended window this time makes it much easier to actually catch. Buried Stars is a psychological visual novel with detective elements built around a collapsed building and social media communication between survivors.
