Remix, the AI-powered game-making platform, has launched its desktop app for Windows, Mac, and Linux, allowing users to create games without coding experience. The launch coincides with the opening of registration for The Missing Bitcoin, a skill-based scavenger hunt offering a prize pool worth more than $100,000 and a grand prize of 1 Bitcoin (BTC) or its cash equivalent.

The platform, which is used by approximately 1.5 million players and creators, allows users to build games through its desktop app, website, and native iOS and Android applications. With its AI-powered creation tools, anyone can turn a game idea into a playable experience in minutes.

Registration for The Missing Bitcoin opens on October 26, 2026, with players competing across a series of portals and challenges to collect coins and reach the final stage of the hunt.

Remix Expands Its AI Game-Making Tools to Desktop

Available through Remix, the new desktop app expands the platform beyond its original mobile offering, which launched in 2025. Since then, creators have produced approximately 100,000 short games using its AI-powered tools.

The platform allows users to describe the game they want to make, after which its AI tools generate the code needed to bring the idea to life. Remix also hosts the resulting games and provides features such as leaderboards, achievements, and real-time multiplayer.

Creators retain ownership of their work and can export their code to use or monetize their games elsewhere. The platform also generates promotional materials that creators can share to attract players.

The desktop release is designed to give creators more room to develop larger projects, including longer adventures, more complex puzzles, and multiplayer worlds intended for groups of friends. Users can continue creating through the web and mobile applications, with games accessible across the platform's supported environments.

"For a long time, making a game felt like something you could only do if you worked at a big studio," said Charlie Blackstock, co-founder and CEO of Remix.

"We wanted to change who gets to make games. Some of the most creative builders on Remix are kids who have never written a line of code, playing next to developers with years of experience. Now they can build on a phone, in a browser or on the new desktop app, and make something deep enough that people keep coming back to it, wherever they play.”

The Missing Bitcoin Offers More Than $100,000 in Prizes

To introduce players to its expanded platform, Remix is launching The Missing Bitcoin, a scavenger hunt built using the same tools available to its creators.

The competition takes place across a series of portals featuring their own characters, skins, movement mechanics, and challenges. Players will participate through the Remix website and its native iOS and Android apps, collecting coins as they complete activities and unlock additional areas.

The hunt combines several types of gameplay, including puzzles, riddles, platforming, hidden-object searches, time trials, hazard runs, and combat. Additional activities include rides, flight challenges, memory games, and music-based games.

Individual challenges range from directing light through a series of mirrors to riding a sandworm or locating a hidden lava tube on the moon. Each earned coin represents an achievement, and all collected coins contribute to a player's overall hunt balance.

The first portal, The Standing Tide, opens alongside registration on October 26 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The Nexus portal and the next set of challenges will follow on November 2, with further portals and activities scheduled to open every two to three days afterward.

Players must collect 60 coins to enter the Final Door, which opens on November 12 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Beyond it, participants will climb a mountain to reach the Summit portal and Skyward Infinity, the hunt's final portal.

The final challenge will remain open until a winner is determined. The first player to collect every hunt coin will receive 1 BTC or its cash equivalent. If nobody manages to collect all the coins, the player with the highest coin total will win.

The competition also rewards participants who finish between second and tenth place. Additionally, players who refer a friend who subsequently wins the contest will receive 0.5 BTC or its cash equivalent.

The total prize pool exceeds $100,000.
