ROM: Golden Age Dual-Token Economy

RedLab Games, in partnership with Wemix Play, has officially revealed the blockchain-based game economy for its upcoming title, ROM: Golden Age. The game, which builds upon the foundations of the original ROM: Remember of Majesty MMORPG, will integrate a dual-token play-to-earn structure. The system introduces blockchain functionality to classic MMORPG gameplay, combining progression-based mechanics with tokenized digital assets to offer a new experience for players familiar with the genre.

ROM: Golden Age Dual-Token Economy

The game economy in ROM: Golden Age is structured around a framework the developers refer to as “RPG Tokenomics 3.0.” This system is designed to align player activity with meaningful in-game and economic outcomes. Unlike traditional MMORPG models that often require repetitive grinding for rewards, this structure connects gameplay actions directly to resource generation, market interaction, and character growth. The system emphasizes long-term engagement, ensuring that effort and time invested in the game translate into tangible progression.

Earning and Using CROM and CRYSTAL

ROM: Golden Age will operate on a dual-token model consisting of CROM and CRYSTAL. These tokens are tied to in-game resources called Dia and Crystals, which players can earn through gameplay. Players who meet specific level and power requirements will gain access to a minting feature that allows them to convert these resources into tokens. This process does not require any prior knowledge of blockchain technology, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

CROM serves as a staking token and can be exchanged for USDC.e, a bridged version of the USDC stablecoin designed for the Wemix 3.0 mainnet. It can also be staked within the game’s ecosystem to earn CRYSTAL tokens. CRYSTAL is a dual-purpose token that functions as a progression requirement within the game and can also be traded for other assets on decentralized exchanges. To support the long-term sustainability of the economy, the game will include mechanisms such as regular token buybacks and burns, as well as revenue reinvestment into the CROM Swap Pool.

Controlled Minting for Economic Stability

The developers have stated that the game’s token minting system is designed to prevent over-issuance. The number of tokens a player can mint will be limited based on their character’s growth and in-game progress. This controlled approach is intended to reward long-term players and ensure the economy remains balanced. The availability of minting options will scale with player development, reinforcing the importance of progression within the game’s ecosystem.

Pre-Exchange Event Offers Early Access

Ahead of the official launch on August 12, a Pre-Exchange Event is being held to allow early participants to acquire CRYSTAL tokens using PLAY Tokens. The event runs from July 22 to July 28 and is accessible via the Wemix Play website. Users can log in, navigate to the Tokens section, select CRYSTAL, and follow the instructions to exchange their PLAY Tokens. For those without sufficient PLAY Tokens, these can be acquired on the Wemix Play Market by trading $WEMIX.

The total supply of CRYSTAL available during this event is 30,000 tokens, with the initial price set at $0.50. The price increases daily, and a daily cap on token allocation has been implemented. These caps reset at 00:00 UTC each day. Reports from the early days of the event show that token allocations have sold out within minutes, indicating high demand. There is no limit to how often an individual can participate across multiple days during the event.

Final Thoughts

ROM: Golden Age is the web3 adaptation of the established ROM: Remember of Majesty game. It is scheduled for global release on August 12, 2025, in over 170 countries. The game will be available across multiple platforms and will be hosted on the Wemix Play platform through an onboarding agreement with Wemade. Players interested in participating at launch can pre-register on the game’s website, where over two million users have already signed up. Pre-registered users will receive in-game rewards once the game becomes available.

With its dual-token structure, integrated blockchain features, and familiar MMORPG mechanics, ROM: Golden Age aims to offer a web3 gaming experience that remains accessible while encouraging consistent engagement through a player-driven economy.
