Is Schedule I Worth Playing in 2026? Not Solo, but Special Customers Helps

Is Schedule I worth playing in 2026? Nearly 70 hours in: great with friends, thin solo. What the Special Customers update adds, the slow update pace, and console.

Yes , if you've got friends to play it with. I put nearly 70 hours into Schedule I, and there isn't 70 hours of content in it unless you're playing with others. Solo, it runs out. But it's still getting updated, the new Special Customers update adds another loop to play, and I'll be going back to check it out.

I last played in May 2025, and I'm honestly surprised people are still playing it. I thought it was going to be another flash-in-the-pan indie game that's hot for a month while streamers play it, then dies out. Instead it has players and it's still getting updates.

What Is the Special Customers Update?

The Special Customers update landed this month after a public beta. It adds four groups of visiting buyers , Hippies, a Party Bus, Businessmen, and Bikers , 31 new customers in all, who periodically arrive in town and buy a lot of their favourite products. It also adds Hyland Medical as a new laundering business you can buy, plus new clothing, hairstyles, and facial hair, per GamingHQ's rundown of the update.

The developer, TVGS, says two more updates are coming before the end of 2026, and a new technical artist is reworking the game's art ahead of its first map expansion.

The update is working on the player count too. Schedule I peaked at 25,750 players on 11 October , its highest daily peak since May 2026 , per SteamCharts. That's a long way below the record of about 456,000 set in April 2025, but well above September's average of around 9,000.

Why Did I Stop Playing Schedule I?

Because I'd played nearly 70 hours of it, and there isn't that much content unless you're with friends. A lot of what made Schedule I fun was doing it with friends, or for me, doing it on stream where viewers would sometimes join. I don't think I ever ground it out alone with no stream on.

I guess I did play it solo , I just had viewers , and that isn't the same as a real solo experience. It falls into the same trap as a lot of games built around friends. The opposite would be games I'm happy to play alone, like Project Zomboid and 7 Days to Die.

What Makes Schedule I Worth Playing?

It's funny, and the grind is actually really well done. The progression and the crafting inside it are solid. It's not as low-effort and silly as it might look from the art style.

Players agree. Schedule I has been in Early Access since 24 March 2025 at $19.99, and its Steam reviews are Overwhelmingly Positive , around 98% of nearly 320,000 reviews , per its Steam page.

Does the Slow Update Pace Matter?

I guess it does, because I stopped when I didn't feel there was anything else to do. But it was also a game I never expected to update at all, so I'm fairly forgiving about it.

The pace has slipped, though. Special Customers won the game's third community vote back in April 2026, per GameScout, and only arrived in October. TVGS has grown from a solo developer into a small studio in Sydney, per Dexerto.

Will Special Customers Bring Me Back?

Yes. I'll definitely go back to check out the Bikers and the rest, because it opens up more of a loop you can be doing. It does have a fairly slow grind for parts, though.

Should Schedule I Come to Console?

Everything comes to console eventually, and Schedule I is casual enough in its gameplay that it makes sense there. Whether TVGS is able to get it onto console is another question. You can't just put any old game on console , especially PlayStation , and it's a small indie team. Console may not even be within their current scope.

For now it's PC only. The developer has said he'd "love to port Schedule I to console when the game is at the right stage", per Insider Gaming, which also covered fake Schedule I games turning up on the PlayStation Store.

Is Schedule I Worth It in 2026?

With friends, or if you stream it, yes , at $19.99 it's easy to recommend. Solo, it'll run out before the hours do. But it's still alive and still updating, and the Special Customers update is enough of a reason for me to load it back up.
