Sony's blockchain platform, Soneium, has officially launched Sleepagotchi Lite on the Line Mini app. Developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) in collaboration with the Startale Group, Soneium operates as an Ethereum Layer-2 solution designed to support scalable and interactive web3 experiences. The introduction of Sleepagotchi Lite to Line's platform, which serves more than 200 million active users, represents a significant expansion for the game that previously gained traction on Telegram with over two million users.

Sleepagotchi Lite is now accessible directly within the Line Mini app or through a web browser, offering users the option to log in using either their Line or Telegram accounts. The game runs entirely on the Soneium blockchain, creating a straightforward user experience while maintaining on-chain functionality. Players can make in-game purchases using USDC and ASTR tokens, opening up flexible entry points into web3 technology.
Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, says the partnership advances Soneium's mission to improve creativity, immersion, and accessibility. The collaboration with Line and Sleepagotchi brings blockchain-based gameplay to a substantially larger audience, prioritizing smooth onboarding and sustained player engagement.

A Preview of the Full Sleepagotchi Experience
Sleepagotchi Lite delivers a condensed version of the full Sleepagotchi app, which remains under development. Unlike the original sleep rewards model, the Lite version skips sleep tracking entirely. Players earn points throughout the day, which will transfer to the forthcoming 2.0 version of the application. The game centers on quick, engaging sessions built around battle card mechanics, collectible items, and community interaction, keeping the core elements that made the original app popular while lowering the barrier to entry.
Anton Kraminkin, CEO of Sleepagotchi, underscores the importance of sleep in overall health and points to Japan's role in the game's early success. The game's design draws heavily from Japanese culture, incorporating kawaii art, gacha systems, and RPG elements. The launch on Line and Soneium aims to grow and solidify this user base by delivering a more accessible version of the game that preserves its distinctive style and character.

Soneium's Role in the Web3 Ecosystem
Soneium, Sony's proprietary blockchain, has seen notable growth in its ecosystem. The platform currently supports over 100 consumer and gaming applications. While the term "apps" can vary in definition across different blockchain environments, Sony reports that these include a wide range of interactive and on-chain experiences that contribute to daily network usage.
Daily transaction volumes on Soneium range from one million to 1.5 million, with more than seven million wallet addresses currently in use. The blockchain also holds over $200 million in total value locked, pointing to steady engagement and adoption within the web3 space. By integrating with widely used platforms such as Line, Soneium continues working to reduce the technical complexity traditionally associated with blockchain applications.

Looking Ahead
The launch of Sleepagotchi Lite on the Line Mini app marks a strategic move for both Soneium and Sleepagotchi in expanding the reach of web3 gaming. By removing the need for specialized blockchain knowledge and enabling gameplay through commonly used platforms, the collaboration introduces a broader audience to on-chain experiences. With further developments expected in the full version of Sleepagotchi, the partnership reflects a broader trend toward more inclusive and accessible applications in the web3 ecosystem.
