Pixelcraft Studios, the team behind the Aavegotchi ecosystem, is officially bringing Gotchi Guardians to Steam. After over two years in development, the multiplayer tower defense roguelite is now listed on the platform, with a full launch targeted for Q3 2025. It’s a big step for the Aavegotchi universe, offering a new standalone game that mixes strategic defense gameplay with competitive multiplayer and web3 integrations.

Tower Defense Meets Roguelite PvP
At its core, Gotchi Guardians is an 8-player roguelite where players battle waves of enemies known as Licks. Each round changes things up with randomized events, hazards, and voting-based mechanics that affect all players in the match. There’s XP to earn, towers to unlock, and the ever-present goal of being the last Guardian standing.
The game doesn’t just stick to the basics. Boss waves arrive every five rounds, shared events keep everyone on edge, and the sabotage mechanics mean you’re not only fighting off enemies but also watching your back against other players. Add in maps like Mount Oomf and Rickety River, where moving crab towers and lava flows can throw a wrench in your strategy, and it’s clear this isn’t your standard tower defense.

The game also supports cross-platform multiplayer and features seasonal leaderboards, so there’s always something to play for beyond a single session.

$GHST, Skins, and the Aavegotchi Connection
One of Gotchi Guardians’ standout features is how it connects back to the Aavegotchi ecosystem. Players can equip Aavegotchi NFT skins in-game, letting them bring their Gotchis into battle as cosmetic overlays. While these don’t impact gameplay, they add a level of personalization that Aavegotchi fans will appreciate.
On the blockchain side, the game supports $GHST for in-game purchases through the Base network. Players can buy G-Bucks with $GHST or credit cards via Xsolla. There’s also a community clip contest, where players can submit gameplay videos for a shot at earning up to 1,000 GHST based on engagement.

Aavegotchi Universe Keeps Growing
Gotchi Guardians has already been available on web browsers form since early 2025, where it’s gone through balance updates, feature additions, and even the introduction of a spectator mode. Pixelcraft isn’t stopping with this release, either. More maps, new Guardians, extra items, and live events are already in the works, signaling long-term support for the game.
