The sale window opened June 25 and closes July 9. That's roughly two weeks to pick through thousands of discounted games on Steam, and the gap between list price and sale price on some of these titles is genuinely hard to ignore.
The headliner numbers tell the story quickly: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Complete Edition drops from $49.99 to $9.99, Titanfall 2 goes from $29.99 to $4.49, and Hotline Miami sits at $0.99. These aren't obscure catalog filler either. These are games that consistently appear on best-of lists, and several of them have sold tens of millions of copies.

What's actually worth your time in this sale
Here's the thing: not every big discount is a big deal. A 50% cut on a game nobody wanted at full price is still a bad purchase. The titles worth flagging this sale are the ones where the price finally removes any remaining excuse not to play them.
Titanfall 2 at $4.49 is the most obvious example. The single-player campaign is one of the most creative FPS experiences ever shipped, and it's been sitting at rock-bottom prices for years waiting for people to notice. If you haven't played it yet, this is the version of the sale where running out of excuses stops being acceptable.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at $13.99 (down from $69.99) is the other standout. The sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order improved on every system from the original and delivered one of the better stories in any Disney-era Star Wars production. At 80% off, it's the kind of deal that makes the sale feel worthwhile on its own.
For RPG players, The Witcher III at $9.99 includes both expansion packs, which alone are worth the full asking price of most games. The Complete Edition is the only version worth picking up, and this sale price makes it a no-brainer even if it's been sitting in your wishlist for years. A third expansion is reportedly in development for 2027, so now is a reasonable time to get caught up.
Smaller picks that deserve attention
Burnout Paradise Remastered at $3.99 is easy to overlook next to the bigger names, but it's one of the best open-world racing games ever made and it holds up. The remaster includes all DLC from the original release.
Risk of Rain 2 at $8.24 is worth picking up if you have friends to play with. The co-op roguelike scales well with two to four players and has enough build variety to stay interesting across dozens of runs.
Stardew Valley at $8.99 barely needs an introduction at this point. The farming sim has sold over 41 million copies and still gets free content updates from its solo developer. If you've been putting it off, this is a reasonable entry point.
On the JRPG side, Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter is down to $29.99 from $59.99. It's a remake of the first entry in one of the most story-dense RPG series ever made, and it works perfectly as a starting point. The second remake is due in September, so there's real momentum behind the series right now. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana at $19.99 is another strong pick from the same publisher, and it's genuinely one of the most accessible action RPGs available despite being the eighth entry in its series.
The $0.99 wildcard
Hotline Miami at $0.99 is almost a philosophical question at this point. The top-down action game came out in 2012 and its cultural moment has long since passed, but the core gameplay, the soundtrack, and the general vibe are still worth experiencing. Less than a dollar removes any rational argument against at least trying it.
American Truck Simulator rounds things out at $4.99 for the base game. It's a legitimate simulation of long-haul driving across the US, and it works better as a relaxation tool than it has any right to. A bundle including all state expansions is available for $43.85 if you want the full experience.
What this sale window means for your library
Steam seasonal sales follow a predictable rhythm, and the Summer Sale is consistently one of the two biggest of the year alongside the Winter Sale. Prices at this event tend to match or beat historical lows for most of the featured titles, so waiting for a better deal on games like Jedi: Survivor or The Witcher III is unlikely to pay off.
The sale runs through July 9. If you're looking to build out your library with games that have real staying power, this window is worth treating seriously. For more picks across genres and platforms, check out our gaming guides covering everything from beginner tips to advanced strategies.
