September is already shaping up to be one of the most brutal release months in recent memory, and that's before you factor in everything else landing between now and early 2027. The PlayStation State of Play, Xbox Games Showcase, and Nintendo Direct have all wrapped, and the preorder list coming out of this summer's presentations is genuinely staggering.

The headliners worth locking in first
Marvel's Wolverine is the biggest PlayStation exclusive coming out of this summer's announcements. The State of Play trailer made it look like a gory, visceral action game, and it's landing exclusively on PS5 on September 15. At $69.99, preorders are live at major retailers now.
For Remedy fans, Control Resonant got its release date confirmed during State of Play: September 24, across PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. It's priced at $59.99 and sits in the middle of what is, frankly, a chaotic September pile-up. The key here is that Remedy rarely misses, so this one is worth securing early.
Gears of War: E-Day was a major moment at the Xbox Games Showcase. Marcus and Dom are back, this time set during Emergence Day itself, and it's confirmed as an Xbox console exclusive with a PC release on Steam. Preorders are live at $69.99.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is actually the closest release on this entire list, arriving July 28. Unlike Gears, it's coming to PS5 and PC as well, priced at $49.99. If you want to jump back into Master Chief's story with new missions, that's less than two months away.
Nintendo's slate is quietly stacked
The June Nintendo Direct delivered for Switch 2 owners. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has a September 17 release date, landing right in the thick of the fall rush at $79.99. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort follows on October 22 at $59.99, and Splatoon Raiders arrives even sooner on July 23 at $59.99.
For the long haul, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is dated for December 3 on Switch 2. That's a holiday release worth planning for.
The 2027 releases already open for preorder
Three major titles are so far out they're launching in early 2027, but preorders are already live. Fable finally has a confirmed date: February 23, 2027, across Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC. Hayley Atwell plays the villain, named Isabel, which was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase trailer. At $69.00, you can lock it in now.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis lands February 12, 2027, just before Fable, across PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2 at $59.99. Persona 4 Revival follows on February 18, 2027, with physical preorders live for PS5 and Xbox Series X, plus Steam for PC players.
