Superior's Senior Designer Gwen recently shed light on some exciting updates coming to Superior, focusing mainly on the transformation of Rarity Skills into Infamy Skills. The decision to revamp the Rarity Skills arose from several challenges the team identified with the existing system:
- Lower rarity players were unaware of the advanced skills they lacked, leading to a perception that higher rarity characters were "Pay 2 Win", despite attempts to balance the skills.
- The skills associated with the Legendary and Ancient characters were often overlooked due to limited player access.
- The current setup simply wasn't as much fun.
Addressing these issues, the team decided to replace Rarity Skills with Infamy Skills, which will be unlocked over time as characters become more infamous. These skills, which increase character abilities and reduce in-game costs, will be available to all players, creating a more balanced and rewarding system.
The change affects the game's Infamy system, with a shift away from a higher base level cap for high rarity characters. Instead, every character will now start with a base level cap of 30, with additional Infamy levels granted for each character. This change simplifies the process and reduces the time investment for players with high rarity characters.
The new system is expected to precede the Phase 1 Play And Earn plan. While it won't initially include GYRI migration, the team plans to roll that feature out as soon as the other changes are firmly established. The Superior team eagerly awaits player feedback to ensure that the updated system aligns with the gaming community's needs and expectations.
