TennoCon had a lot to say this year. Digital Extremes packed its annual fan convention with reveals across both Warframe and its fantasy sibling Soulframe, and the sheer volume of announcements meant there was something for every type of player. Here's the full breakdown of everything that dropped.
Warframe: Tau is the next big chapter
The centerpiece of TennoCon 2026 was the extended reveal of Warframe: Tau, the next major Narrative Chapter in the game. Players will get to explore a brand-new Star Chart in the Tau System, built around the Sentient ring city of Fornax. The setting is a noir-soaked world of black rain, warring criminal factions, and a ruthless crime boss called The Hunra sitting at the top of the food chain. Casinos, grimy shipping docks, and dilapidated slums all make up the new Fornax environment, which is a sharp visual departure from anything Warframe has done before.
The expansion launches later this year, and it introduces a new enemy faction to go with the new setting. The Fornax Drowners are evolved Sentients, deadlier than what players have faced in the Origin System, and they're clearly designed to push your builds to their limits.
Meet Brysko, the detective Warframe
Every major expansion needs a signature Warframe, and Tau's is Brysko. Described as a Chimera Warframe with a hard-boiled detective aesthetic, Brysko comes armed with brass knuckle attacks, explosive playing cards, and an Exalted revolver magnum called the Corecracker. The character is voiced by Matthew Mercer of Critical Role fame, which is a casting choice that fits the noir tone perfectly.
Portau: Warframe's first card minigame
Between missions, players will be able to sit down for a round of Portau, a brand-new in-game card minigame. It blends poker mechanics with its own unique suit system built around Blooms, Cores, Moons, and Suns. Digital Extremes is billing it as a "sentient" card game, which is a clever bit of world-building on top of what looks like a genuinely fun distraction from the main loop.
Pre-Tau updates and the Iceblade of Narin
Players won't have to wait for Tau to get new content. The upcoming Iceblade of Narin update adds a new story quest, a new location, an ice-elemental Warframe, and a customizable Orokin vessel for the journey to the Tau galaxy. The update also includes Warframe reworks with new Deluxe and Prime variants, a gameplay overhaul, and fresh Nightwave missions. Excalibur lands in Fortnite
In a crossover that makes a lot of sense given both games are free-to-play, Excalibur is coming to Fortnite as a purchasable outfit cosmetic. Players who have purchased certain eligible items will also receive the skin as a bonus. It's a straightforward brand extension, but it puts Warframe in front of a massive audience that may not have considered it before.
Soulframe gets Expedition 33 talent and mounts
Soulframe is still in alpha, but Digital Extremes used TennoCon to show off meaningful progress. The new Warsongs questline is launching later this year, providing story exposition and plot setup for the main campaign. The arc stars Ben Starr as antagonist Tempest Bayor and Jennifer English as player ally Empress of Eidvel, both of whom starred in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. That's a notable pull for a game still finding its footing.
Beyond the narrative content, mounts are coming to Soulframe, alongside a feature called Vegan Fishing for players who want something more relaxed. Quality-of-life improvements are also in the pipeline as Digital Extremes continues to shape the game around community feedback.
TennoCon 2027 is already locked in
Digital Extremes confirmed the next event before this one even wrapped. TennoCon 2027 is scheduled for July 16-17, 2027. Given the scope of this year's reveals, expectations will be high.
