The Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) connects over 500 companies working in web3 gaming. Founded in 2018 by teams from Ubisoft, Yield Guild Games, Sky Mavis, EverdreamSoft, and Delphi Ventures, this non-profit organization exists to help members gain visibility, make connections, and access education in the blockchain gaming space.

Sebastien Borget has served as BGA President since 2020. Cointelegraph ranked him fourth in its Top 100 Most Influential People in Crypto in 2022.

BGA's work centers on three areas: visibility, connections, and education.

Visibility: BGA produces content that helps members understand each other's work and identify potential partners. The goal is to keep blockchain gaming visible as a legitimate sector, not a fringe experiment.

Connections: The organization runs events, attends conferences, and sets up booths where members can demo their games and infrastructure. Face-to-face meetings matter when companies are deciding who to work with.

Education: BGA creates resources to explain blockchain gaming to the wider industry. The organization wants developers, publishers, and players to understand what this technology actually does and why it might matter.

We spoke with Flavien Defraire, Director of Global Development for the Blockchain Game Alliance, about the organization's goals and activities. You can read that conversation on our website here.

BGA shows up at major industry events throughout the year: GDC San Francisco, Consensus Austin, Gamescom Cologne, and TOKEN2049 Singapore. Last October, the organization ran a booth at a San Francisco event where members showcased their games and products.

Members use private Telegram and Discord channels to collaborate, network, and share information. BGA also maintains an online platform where industry professionals can access web3 resources and learn about member solutions.

Each year, BGA releases its "Blockchain Gaming: State of the Industry Report." The 2023 edition, published in December, marks the third annual report. BGA partnered with web3 advisory firm Emfarsis and DappRadar on the survey, which covers adoption rates, growth metrics, career trends, and innovation patterns in blockchain gaming.
