Why this collection is worth getting excited about
The series has been having a moment lately. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse landed recently and reminded a lot of players why this franchise has stayed relevant for decades. For anyone who jumped in with that game and wants to trace the lineage back, this bundle is essentially the complete roadmap.
The early NES entries are worth playing as historical artifacts as much as games. They are punishing, occasionally unfair (Medusa Heads remain a generational grievance), and completely compelling. Super Castlevania IV sits near the top of the SNES library for a reason, and the whip mechanics there still hold up.
The Metroidvania stretch of the series, running from Circle of the Moon through Order of Ecclesia, is where the franchise hit its creative peak for a lot of fans. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is the standout of that era. The soul-collection system gives the game a weapon variety that most action-platformers still haven't matched, and the pacing is tight enough that the backtracking never becomes a slog. Finishing it also unlocks a bonus mode that recontextualizes the whole experience.
Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia each bring something different to the formula, and playing them after Aria makes the evolution obvious.
The Lords of Shadow games are a different beast entirely. They lean into hack-and-slash territory closer to God of War than classic Castlevania, but they're well-constructed action games on their own terms. Mirror of Fate threads the needle between both styles with its 2.5D layout, and the two DLC packs for the first Lords of Shadow extend a game that already delivered a complete experience.
How to enter
The giveaway is live on the Fanatical website right now. Entry details are on their platform, and three winners walk away with the complete bundle.
The timing makes sense with Belmont's Curse generating renewed interest in the series. For players who want to go deeper into the back catalogue, this is one of the better ways to do it without hunting down individual titles.
You'll want to check out the Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow guides if you do win and need help navigating the soul system or finding every weapon. For broader help across the series and beyond, the full gaming guides library has you covered.
