Overview
QuestAway is a free-to-play idle RPG from ART X GAMES, released on October 23, 2026, designed to run in a small, scalable window alongside everything else on your desktop. The core loop is straightforward: assemble a party of up to four heroes from 10 available classes, send them into battle, and return periodically to equip whatever dropped, spend skill points, and push toward tougher content.
The game scales its arena window from 0.5x to 1.5x, so it fits neatly next to a browser or work application without demanding full attention. Heroes fight autonomously, casting skills on their own based on the loadout players configure. The depth lives in the decisions made between those check-ins.

Gameplay and mechanics
QuestAway's build system is where the game earns its RPG label. Each hero navigates a passive tree with 2,224 nodes, choosing their own path up to level 100. Black-hole portals scattered across the tree let players jump between distant branches, keeping builds flexible rather than punishing early choices. On top of that, each of the 10 classes carries its own skill tree with 20 skills, and players choose which ones go into battle even though the heroes cast them automatically.

Key mechanics at a glance:
- 2,224-node passive tree per hero
- 20 class-specific skills with manual loadout selection
- Workbench crafting: forge, enhance to +10, socket gems, enchant
- Seven gear rarities from Common to Eternal
- 15 collectible pets, each granting a permanent bonus
The workbench adds another layer. Gear comes in seven rarities and nothing gets discarded outright: every piece has a use through forging, transmuting, potion brewing, or selling. Enhancing gear up to +10 and socketing gems means even a Common drop can serve a purpose early on.

Multiplayer and social features
For an idle game, QuestAway carries a surprising amount of social infrastructure. The Colossus events spawn 12 times daily, pulling every player into a shared fight against one of 10 distinct giant bosses. Earning a Silver medal or better rewards a Colossus Chest containing at least a Rare-tier item, making these events worth scheduling around.
Clans support up to 200 members and unlock at level 10 to join or level 20 to found. The weekly Clan Hunt pits the group against a Beast, with two classes dealing 25% bonus damage each week, rotating the optimal roster. Hunt participation earns Seals redeemable at the Bazaar for cosmetic rewards. The housing system lets players build a home for their party complete with furniture, a garden, and a pool, and Steam friends can visit and leave stamps in a guestbook.
Is QuestAway worth playing for free?
Most of QuestAway's content is accessible without spending. Six of the 10 classes unlock with in-game gold, and 11 of the 15 pets come from hunting specific monsters. The PvP Arena runs on a league system from Bronze to Legend, paying out gold or Crystals at month's end based on rank. The Codex, an account-wide upgrade system, even includes a glyph that keeps heroes earning gold and XP with the game fully closed.

The Crystal Shop, funded by Steam's premium currency, covers the four locked classes (Barbarian, Monk, Witch, and Paladin), the four premium pets, 50 hero skins, and quality-of-life items like premium stash tabs. Skins are cosmetic only. The Player Market, which unlocks once any hero hits level 20, lets players trade items with each other for gold or Crystals at fixed prices or through auction, keeping the economy player-driven. With 300 stages across three maps, 110 monster types, 10 daily Colossus encounters, and 100 Steam achievements tracking progress from the first kill to a completed Codex, QuestAway offers a dense content base for an idle RPG that asks nothing upfront.
