A repair shop with a story to tell
ReStory puts you in charge of a small electronics repair shop on the streets of mid-2000s Tokyo, where fixing gadgets and talking to customers are equally important parts of the job.The game comes from Mandragora, the team behind I Am Future, and carries the same unhurried, lived-in energy that made that game stand out.It sits in the simulation space but leans hard into narrative, giving every customer visit the weight of a story beat rather than just another repair ticket.
Taking things apart and putting them back together
The repair system is the mechanical heart of the game: you disassemble devices, clean them, swap out faulty components, and reassemble everything with a set of dedicated tools.Devices span the full Y2K nostalgia spectrum, from handheld game consoles and cameras to music players and home appliances.Officially licensed Atari consoles are in the mix too, which adds a layer of authenticity that fans of the era will notice immediately.
When you need spare parts, you hunt for them through an in-game web browser styled after early-2000s internet, which is a small detail that does a lot to sell the period setting.Orders come in both in-person and online, so the shop stays busy in different ways across a playthrough.
Choices that actually change things
Each customer who walks through the door brings a personal situation, and how you handle it can redirect the story in real ways. One scenario involves deciding whether to report something unsettling found inside a former gangster's phone; another has you helping a student work up the nerve to confess to his crush. The branching storyline supports multiple endings, and the game is designed to be replayed to see how different choices play out.
