Anime Expeditions Guide: All Traits and How to Roll Them

Traits are the single biggest lever you can pull to boost a unit's performance in Anime Expeditions, the popular tower defense game on Roblox. A bad trait leaves a strong unit underperforming. The right one turns a solid unit into something that carries entire runs. With 17 traits in the pool ranging from basic 5% damage bumps to a jaw-dropping 350% damage multiplier, knowing what to chase and what to skip saves you a mountain of Trait Crystals.

What does every trait do in Anime Expeditions?

The trait pool splits clearly into two groups: common traits that nudge a single stat, and rare traits that stack multiple powerful bonuses at once. Here's the full breakdown.

The gap between the top and bottom of this table is enormous. Unbound at 0.1% with a 1,500 pity guarantee is in a different universe compared to Strength 1 at 14.64%. That gap is exactly why the tier list below matters.

S+ tier: Unbound

Unbound is the best trait in the game and it's not particularly close. A 350% damage increase on top of -5% SPA and +10% Range makes every other option look like a consolation prize. The 0.1% roll chance and 1,500 pity threshold mean you'll spend serious resources chasing it, but for endgame content and leaderboard pushes, nothing else compares. Save your Trait Crystals for this if you're serious about min-maxing.

S tier: Primordial, Forsaken, and Draconic

These three all share the same design philosophy: stack multiple meaningful bonuses instead of pumping one stat. Primordial gives +35% DMG, -15% SPA, and +20% Range simultaneously, making it one of the most well-rounded options in the game. Forsaken leans into critical builds with +35% Crit Chance and +35% Crit Damage plus a range bonus, which pairs extremely well with units that already have high base crit stats. Draconic is the specialist pick, adding +50% DoT Damage alongside +20% DMG and a -10% Unit Cost reduction that actually helps you place units faster.

tip
Draconic's -10% Unit Cost reduction is easy to overlook but genuinely useful in tighter economy maps where every bit of gold matters at the start of a wave.

A tier: Investor, Bolt, Precision 2, and Optics

Investor is the standout here for a specific reason: it belongs on farm units, not damage dealers. A 25% income bonus on a dedicated gold farmer accelerates your economy faster than any damage trait could. Bolt at -15% SPA is the attack speed trait to target if you can't land Primordial. Precision 2 doubles down on the crit path with +20% Crit Chance and +10% Crit Damage, which is a real upgrade over Precision

  1. Optics at +25% Range has niche value on units that benefit from extended placement coverage.

B and C tier

B tier traits are decent early-game options. Limit Breaker at +15% DMG is the best of the bunch, but all five B tier traits suffer from doing one thing at a modest level. C tier traits (Strength 1, Speed 1, Range 1, Enlightenment) are fine when you first unlock a unit, but they should be replaced as soon as you have the crystals to do it. Enlightenment is a special case: +50% EXP Gain sounds appealing for leveling, but once your units are maxed it becomes completely useless.

How to reroll traits in Anime Expeditions

The reroll process is straightforward once you know where to look.

  1. Head to the Evolve area in the main lobby.
  2. Find the Trait Reroll station positioned between the Evolve and Crafting stations.
  3. Select the unit you want to reroll.
  4. Click the Reroll button to spend one Trait Crystal and receive a new trait.

Holding the Reroll button activates Auto Reroll, which keeps spending crystals automatically. Before using Auto Reroll, click Filters and select which traits you want to stop on. This prevents the auto reroll from blowing past a Forsaken or Primordial while you're not watching.

How do you get Trait Crystals in Anime Expeditions?

Trait Crystals are the only currency for rerolling, so knowing every source matters.

  • Map completion is the primary source. Clearing maps consistently is the most reliable way to stack crystals.
  • Daily rewards give a small but steady trickle without any effort.
  • In-game mailbox occasionally delivers free crystals during updates and events.
  • Codes are the fastest free source.

For context on how traits interact with unit builds, the Anime Expeditions evolution guide covering all units and passives is worth reading alongside this one. Evolved units unlock passives that can make certain traits significantly more effective.

Which traits are worth targeting first?

For new players, the priority order looks like this:

  • Early game: Any B tier trait is a solid baseline. Don't burn crystals chasing S tier before you have a stable map-clearing setup.
  • Mid game: Target Investor on your farm unit first. The 25% income bonus compounds over every wave and speeds up your entire progression.
  • Late game: Save everything for Primordial or Forsaken on your main damage dealers, then keep rolling for Unbound if you're pushing endgame content.
