Drain the Lake Class Tier List (July 2026)

Drain the Lake on Roblox has 9 classes to choose from, and picking the wrong one will slow your progress considerably. The gap between the best and worst options is real. Scooper and Hauler sit at the top because they directly improve the two stats that matter most during every single run: bucket fill speed and bucket capacity. Everything else either farms resources you already have plenty of, or buffs mechanics you rarely need to worry about.

Classes cost between 750 and 12,000 Diamonds, which you earn through chests, badge rewards, and going deep in the lake. Expensive does not automatically mean better here, and that distinction matters a lot when you're deciding where to spend your Diamonds first.

What is the best class in Drain the Lake?

The Scooper is the best class in Drain the Lake for most players. At just 2,500 Diamonds, it gives you a chance to instantly fill your bucket on every scoop, starting at 4% and scaling to a 21% total chance at Level 3. That might sound modest, but bucket fill speed is the single most impactful stat in the game. Every run you play, you're filling that bucket hundreds of times. Even a small percentage boost adds up to a massive time saving across a full session.

The Hauler is a close second and arguably better value per Diamond spent at 2,000 Diamonds. It adds flat bucket capacity (+4 at Level 1, up to +21 total at Level 3), which means fewer trips back to the surface. Weak base stats (Speed: 20%, Loot: 20%) are the only real downside, and for most playstyles that tradeoff is worth it.

tip
Pair the Scooper with a high-capacity bucket to stack two of the most important efficiency stats simultaneously. The combination makes runs feel dramatically faster.

S-tier classes

Scooper perks at each level

Scooper perks at each level

Scooper

Starter stats: Speed 50%, Health 60%, Loot 50%

The Scooper's Level 1 perk gives a 4% chance to instantly fill your bucket. Level 2 adds another 7%, and Level 3 adds 10% more, landing at a cumulative 21% total chance. The base stats are well-rounded compared to most classes, and 2,500 Diamonds is a price point you can hit early without grinding for days. There are genuinely no notable downsides to this class.

Hauler

Starter stats: Speed 20%, Health 90%, Loot 20%

Hauler's bucket capacity bonuses are flat additions, not percentages, which makes them reliable regardless of what bucket you're using. At Level 3 you've added +21 total capacity. The low Speed and Loot base stats are a genuine drawback, but if you're focused on efficiency over exploration, Hauler delivers. At 2,000 Diamonds it's the cheaper of the two S-tier picks.

A-tier classes

Treasure Hunter

Starter stats: Speed 35%, Health 40%, Loot 100%

The best diamond farming class in the game, full stop. At Level 3, every chest you open gives you a guaranteed extra diamond. The problem is the 12,000 Diamond price tag, which is the most expensive class available. You're spending Diamonds to earn Diamonds faster, which has diminishing returns unless you're playing very long sessions. No direct gameplay buffs means it doesn't help you drain the lake faster.

warning
Don't prioritize Treasure Hunter as your first unlock. Spend on Scooper or Hauler first and use those efficiency gains to farm the Diamonds you need for later purchases.

Crewmate

Starter stats: Speed 40%, Health 70%, Loot 40%

Crewmate's perk scales with the number of friends in your session, adding up to +5% bucket fill speed per friend at Level 3. In a full group, those bonuses stack into something genuinely powerful. Alone, the class does nothing beyond its base stats. At 6,500 Diamonds it's a significant investment for a conditional perk, but if you always play with a crew it's one of the strongest options available.

Prospector

Starter stats: Speed 30%, Health 50%, Loot 90%

Prospector gives up to a 26% cumulative chance for double tokens per run. Tokens aren't hard to come by in Drain the Lake, which is why this class sits at A rather than S despite solid base stats and a reasonable 5,000 Diamond cost. Good for players who want to accelerate token-gated progression without switching away from a farming-focused build.

B-tier classes

Fisherman

Starter stats: Speed 30%, Health 40%, Loot 70%

Fisherman costs only 1,250 Diamonds and gives up to a 21% chance for bonus tokens whenever you fill your bucket. The price is genuinely low, making it a reasonable placeholder while you save for better options. The issue is that tokens aren't a bottleneck in this game, so the perk rarely feels meaningful. Overshadowed by Prospector for farming and by both S-tier classes for actual gameplay impact.

tip
Leveling any class requires XP earned by playing with that class equipped. There's no shortcut. If you want a class at Level 3, you need to put in the sessions with it active.

D-tier classes

Fishman

Starter stats: Speed 50%, Health 25%, Loot 25%

Swim stamina bonuses (+4 at Level 1, up to +21 at Level 3) sound useful in a game about draining a lake, but in practice the swim mechanics don't demand extended stamina. The base stats are poor, and at 1,000 Diamonds you're not saving much compared to better options.

Diver

Starter stats: Speed 60%, Health 30%, Loot 60%

Diver gives up to an 85% cumulative chance that the shark ignores you at Level 3. Shark avoidance is already manageable without any class bonus, which makes this the clearest example of a perk solving a problem that doesn't really exist. At 3,000 Diamonds, it costs more than Hauler while delivering far less. The base stats are decent but not enough to save it.

Runner

Starter stats: Speed 90%, Health 20%, Loot 30%

Runner is the cheapest class at 750 Diamonds and gives up to 25% faster walking speed at Level 3. Movement speed is a nice quality-of-life bonus, but it doesn't affect how fast you drain the lake. Health at 20% is the lowest in the game. Runner works as a starter class while you save Diamonds, but replace it as soon as you can afford Hauler.

How to unlock classes in Drain the Lake

The Class Shop is on the left side of the game lobby. All purchases use Diamonds. You earn Diamonds by opening chests, reaching deeper depths in the lake, and claiming Badge rewards. If you want to speed things up, Diamonds can also be purchased with Robux through the Shop interface on the left side of the lobby.

Unlock order recommendation based on value per Diamond:

  1. Runner (750) as a temporary starter
  2. Hauler (2,000) as your first serious upgrade
  3. Scooper (2,500) to stack efficiency with Hauler
  4. Fisherman (1,250) if you want a cheap farming backup
  5. Prospector (5,000) once you have the main two
  6. Crewmate (6,500) only if you play with friends regularly
  7. Treasure Hunter (12,000) as a long-term goal
tip
Skip Diver and Fishman entirely unless you've already unlocked everything else and want completion. The Diamonds are better spent elsewhere.
