Doktor's Curse is back in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege X, and it's the one time of year where rifles are completely off the table. Running October 15 to November 2 as part of Y11S3 (Operation Split Fire), this Hide & Seek event drops you into the Doktor's twisted laboratory with nothing but modified gadgets and a hammer. Two new Hunters join the roster, a new Monster debuts, and there are free cosmetics on the table for anyone willing to put in minimal effort.

How does Doktor's Curse work?

Each match runs 4 rounds of 2 minutes each. No firearms exist in this mode for either side. You are assigned to one of two roles: Hunter or Monster.

Hunters must find and eliminate every Monster before the timer expires. Monsters must survive the full 2 minutes. That's the entire ruleset. The depth comes from the modified gadgets and the Nightstride ability that Monsters carry.

Hunter operators in 2026

Two operators are new to the Hunter side this year: Grim and Hibana.

OperatorModified GadgetPrimary Use
GrimModified Kawan HivesArea denial, flushing Monsters from cover
HibanaModified Capitão CrossbowRanged gadget delivery across the room

Grim's adapted Kawan Hives apply pressure and force Monsters out of tight hiding spots. Hibana gives up her standard hammer in favor of a crossbow variant built on Capitão's gadget, which lets Hunters reach Monsters through cover and at distance.

The Monster role: Mute joins the lab

Mute is the Doktor's newest creation for 2026. His modified Signal Disruptor creates zones that impair Hunters, giving Monsters a window to reposition or break contact entirely.

Every Monster also has access to Nightstride, a temporary invisibility ability that is the core survival tool. Knowing when to activate it separates experienced Monster players from everyone else.

What are all the free rewards in Doktor's Curse 2026?

Three free rewards are available during the event window, and none of them require spending R6 Credits.

1. G36C Weapon Skin (Ash and Iana) Complete the event's in-game challenges to unlock this skin for both operators. Check the Challenges tab in-game for the current objectives, as they refresh during the event.

2. Spear 308 Weapon Skin (Finka and Thunderbird) This one comes through Twitch Drops. Link your Ubisoft account to Twitch, then watch participating Rainbow Six Siege streams to accumulate the required watch time. The skin applies to both Finka and Thunderbird.

3. Free Event Pack on First Login Log in at any point between October 15 and November 2 and you receive one free event pack automatically. No challenges required.

Hunter tips: how to win without firearms

Stay together. The mistake most players make as a Hunter is splitting up early. Monsters win rounds where Hunters get isolated and taken out one at a time. A coordinated sweep forces Monsters to burn Nightstride defensively rather than offensively.

Learn the dead ends. The Doktor's Lab is a dedicated event map. Hunters who know which rooms have no exit routes close rounds significantly faster. Use Grim's modified hives to flush Monsters out of alcoves before committing to melee.

Bait Nightstride early. Monsters have a limited window on the invisibility. Apply pressure with a gadget throw or deliberate noise to force a Monster invisible before they are ready, then track the residual animation from the activation.

Use Hibana's crossbow correctly. Its value is delivering gadget payloads from across the room to flush a hiding Monster toward teammates waiting at the exit. Players who rush in with it as a melee tool waste its entire purpose.

Set a one-minute checkpoint. Two minutes is short. If you have not sighted a Monster by the halfway mark, it is almost certainly in a rotation spot you already passed. Reverse-sweep cleared rooms because Monsters backtrack when Hunters overcommit forward.

Monster tips: how to survive the full round

Time Nightstride for multiple Hunters. Activating it the moment one Hunter rounds a corner wastes the ability on a single threat. Wait until two or more are converging, then go invisible. The confusion buys a full reposition, not just a one-second delay.

Mute's Disruptor creates windows, not permanent walls. Place it to force a Hunter detour, then combine it with Nightstride to completely reset a sweep. Used together, these two tools can neutralize a coordinated Hunter push entirely.

Go vertical. The lab has overhead hiding options that Hunters rarely check on their first sweep. High corners and elevated fixtures cost Hunters precious seconds when they have to double-check. Being hard to find matters more than fighting back.

Survive, don't chase kills. Monster wins are measured in survival, not eliminations. Players who hunt Hunters expose themselves unnecessarily. Only commit to an aggressive play if one Hunter is isolated and low on resources, and even then, weigh the cost of burning a Nightstride charge.
