WoW Forever Darkshore is the Alliance zone for levels 11 to 19. Arrive at 11, bind your hearthstone in Auberdine, clear the coast north of town, then sweep south and walk out at 19 escorting a narcoleptic druid into Ashenvale. Old chains, old hub, old skips. Blizzard gave Darkshore prettier fog, not a shorter road.

The whole zone hangs on four Auberdine chains: Buzzbox 827, Plagued Lands, Washed Ashore and How Big a Threat?. Take every quest at the hub in one lap, turn in everything on every return, and skip anything that asks for level 22 or a trip past Maestra's Post before you are ready.

What Changes in Darkshore for WoW Forever

Forever launches on November 4, 2026. The beta runs from September 17 to October 21 with a level 20 cap for the first two weeks and 30 after that, so WoW Forever beta leveling through Darkshore is fully playable under the first cap. You will hit the first cap right as the zone runs out, which is the only time Blizzard's timing has ever been this polite.

  • The new Stormwind Harbor ship docks in Auberdine, so humans, dwarves and gnomes no longer need a flight across half the world to reach Darkshore.
  • A second new ship runs from Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands to Southshore and on to Auberdine, linking Darkshore with Hillsbrad Foothills in one ride.
  • Dungeon mob XP was cut and dungeon quest XP was raised, so outdoor questing stays the fastest way through the 10 to 20 range.
  • Crafted food grants a small XP bonus on top of its stats, which finally gives cooking a job besides burning fish.
  • There is no level scaling and no flying, so a level 20 elite still kills a level 15 player the way it did in 2004.
  • The world renderer adds mist over the Darkshore water, which looks lovely and hides murlocs slightly better.

Blizzard has not published a Darkshore quest list for Forever yet. The community already calls this version Classic Plus Darkshore, and the name fits: the route below runs on the original chains, and any Forever-only quest you meet in Auberdine is a bonus stop, not a reason to rebuild the plan.

How to Get to Darkshore

Night elves finish Teldrassil, turn in The Bounty of Teldrassil and take Flight to Auberdine in Rut'theran Village. Everyone else now takes the Stormwind to Auberdine boat from Stormwind Harbor instead of crossing the Wetlands on foot and dying to crocolisks for nostalgia.

Level Range: When to Come and When to Leave

Quests in Darkshore run from level 10 to 20, with two long tails that end at 24 and 31 in Ashenvale. Arriving below 11 means grinding crabs for a living. Staying past 20 means gray mobs and no XP.

LevelWhat to do
10 to 11Arrive, bind in Auberdine, take every pickup, clear the beach south of town.
12 to 14Northern loop: wrecks, Buzzbox 411, Bashal'Aran, Cliffspring River, Ameth'Aran.
15 to 16Blackwood furbolg camps, Den Mother, Tower of Althalaxx, Gelkak's key hunt.
17 to 18Southern loop: Murkdeep, Remtravel, Onu, the Twilight camp, Volcor.
19 to 20Escort Kerlonian to Maestra's Post and leave the zone for good.

Auberdine Quest Hub: What to Pick Up

Every WoW Forever Auberdine visit starts the same way: hearthstone set with Innkeeper Shaussiy (37.0, 44.1), cheap food from Laird on the ground floor, then one full lap of quest givers. Laird sells Longjaw Mud Snapper at a price that makes the rest of the vendor economy look like a scam.

Some of these unlock by level, not by chain. The Tower of Althalaxx and Fruit of the Sea want level 13 and 15, and The Absent Minded Prospector and WANTED: Murkdeep! want 15. Check the hub again after every ding instead of trusting your memory.

Optimal Quest Order

This WoW Forever Alliance leveling route is the classic two-loop plan: north first while the mobs are gentle, south second when you can survive a murloc camp. It wastes one flight to Darnassus for druids and one hearthstone per loop, which is the correct number.

Levels 11 to 12: Beach South of Auberdine

Levels 12 to 15: Northern Loop

Levels 15 to 16: Blackwood Camps and the Far North

Levels 17 to 19: Southern Loop and Exit

Most Darkshore quests in WoW Forever gate on a previous step, not on a level. Lose one link and the whole chain goes quiet.

What to Skip

Best Quest Rewards and Zone Drops

Darkshore pays in quest greens, and several of them stay in your bags until 25. The wands carry casters through the whole zone, and the Owlsight Rifle at the exit is the first real ranged upgrade for hunters and warriors.

Zone drops are mostly vendor trash. The useful ones are Plans: Runed Copper Breastplate from Murkdeep and the Den Mother for blacksmiths, and a steady stream of Linen Cloth and Wool Cloth from the Twilight cultists for tailors and first aid.

Rares, Farm Spots and Lore

Darkshore rares drop random greens and nothing unique. Kill them for the XP and the loot table lottery, never camp them.

The best farm is the Twilight camp at the Master's Glaive: dense cultists, cloth drops and no competition once the questers leave. Thistle bears south of Auberdine feed skinners, and the Reef Crawlers along the southern beach drop crab meat for cooking.

For WoW Forever night elf leveling, Darkshore is also the lore bridge out of Teldrassil. Auberdine sits among the ruins of Highborne cities like Ameth'Aran and Bashal'Aran, the furbolgs of the Blackwood tribe have been corrupted by demonic influence, and the Twilight's Hammer is digging around the Master's Glaive, a weapon of Elune buried in the south. Forever is set in the first year of the game, so nothing here has burned yet.

Where to Go Next

World of Warcraft Forever leveling keeps the original zone ladder, so the exit is the same as ever. The difference is that the new ships make switching continents cheap, and WoW Forever 10-20 zones on both sides of the ocean are now one boat apart.

  • Walk into Ashenvale at 19 with the Kerlonian escort and keep questing from Maestra's Post and Astranaar.
  • Take the Stormwind Harbor ship to Westfall at 15 to 20 or Redridge Mountains at 17 to 23 if Darkshore ran dry early.
  • Detour to Hall of Thanes, the new level 13 to 18 dungeon under Ironforge, if you have a group and a spare hour.
  • Go to the Wetlands through Menethil Harbor at 20 or later for its new Forever quests.
  • Build a group for Blackfathom Deeps at 22 or later, since the entrance sits on the Zoram Strand just past the southern border.
  • Keep Loch Modan as a backup zone at 15 to 18 for dwarves and gnomes who hate boats.
