If you've watched a teammate summon a tornado or transform a monster into a fish while you're still waving around a basic wand, this guide is exactly what you need. YAPYAP hides its best spells behind a deliberate layer of mystery, and the game never holds your hand through the process. Every incantation, every secret word, and every wand location is yours to discover or look up right here.

YAPYAP Secret Spells Guide
How Does the Spell System Work in YAPYAP?
Unlike games with straightforward skill trees, YAPYAP ties its magic to physical wands you find as rare loot during quota runs. Each wand channels a specific set of spells, and some of those spells are completely hidden from any in-game menu. To cast a spell, you equip the correct wand, open text chat (Enter on PC, D-Pad on console), and type the incantation exactly as written. Your character shouts the word and the spell fires.
The incantations are case-insensitive, so typing "merci" or "MERCI" both work. Spelling must be exact though, so "mercy" will do nothing.
important
Every spell is tied to a specific wand. Swapping wands mid-run changes which incantations are available to you, so always double-check what you're holding before typing.
How to Find Secret Spells Using the Grimoire
The single most important discovery mechanic in YAPYAP is the Grimoire sitting on a pedestal in the upstairs study of the main hub house. Here's the process:
- Return to the hub after any run.
- Enter the main house and head upstairs.
- Find the glowing Grimoire on its stand in the study.
- Hold the wand you want to investigate in your hand.
- Interact with the Grimoire (E on PC, X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, B on Switch).
- Read the cryptic text or direct incantation the book reveals for that wand's hidden spells.
- Write the words down and test them in your next run.
For example, holding the Blessed Wand and consulting the Grimoire will reveal the secret word Merci, which is not listed anywhere else in the game.
tip
Keep a physical notebook or a text file with your discovered incantations. The Grimoire doesn't remind you of words you've already found, so recording them yourself saves repeated trips upstairs.
Where to Find Every Wand
Wands drop as rare loot during quota runs. Knowing where each wand tends to appear saves significant time.
The Wand of Destruction is the only wand that cannot be purchased or found as loot. It is awarded exclusively as a quota completion reward, making it genuinely rare.
warning
The Wand of Winds is excluded from the Lost and Found mechanic when you die. Every other wand has a chance to appear in the Lost and Found box back at the hub, but the Wand of Winds will not. Keep that in mind when deciding what to carry.

Frequently Asked Questions
My incantation isn't working. What's wrong? Confirm you have the exact wand equipped for that spell. Check the spelling carefully, but don't worry about capitalization since incantations are case-insensitive. "merci" and "MERCI" both work, but "mercy" does not.
Do secret spells work anywhere on the map? Yes. The Grimoire only reveals the words. Once you know an incantation, you can cast it anywhere during a quota run as long as you have the correct wand in hand.
Can you lose a wand permanently? Wands are permanent in your hub collection. During a run, if you die, any wand except the Wand of Winds has a chance to appear in the Lost and Found box. The fewer items you carry, the better your odds of recovering a specific wand. Carrying two non-Wind wands plus a potion gives you a 33% chance of recovering any one of them.
Is there a cap on Cooldown Potion stacking? Yes. The cooldown reduction from stacking Cooldown Potions caps at 70%. Each potion consumed reduces wand cooldowns by 5%, so reaching the cap requires 14 doses. This is especially valuable for Blessed Wand: Corpus Anima users given its long base cooldown.
What does the Hopping Potion do? As of Hotfix 5, the Hopping Potion no longer stacks and produces only one dose per brew. It permanently grants one double jump, which pairs extremely well with Wand of Winds: Tempest and Updog for vertical movement across the tower.
