Overview
Agefield High: Rock the School is a single-player open-world action game developed and published by Refugium Games. You play as Sam, a teenager uprooted by his parents and dumped into Agefield High just months before graduation. On day one, Sam gets pulled into a scheme by Kale and self-proclaimed rockstar Axel to pull off the ultimate 'Rock the School' plan and cement their names in school history.
The game wears its inspirations openly. Think edgy early 2000s teen comedies, the kind that pushed the limits of what was considered acceptable and didn't much care about the answer. Refugium Games is upfront that the humor skews raunchy and deliberately nostalgic, so players who aren't on board with that tone will want to look elsewhere. For everyone else, Agefield feels like a love letter to an era of pop culture that most games ignore entirely.

The main story runs 8 to 10 hours across 32 missions, with two different endings depending on the choices Sam makes along the way. There are also 15 side missions and activities scattered across the town, giving the open world a reason to exist beyond just connecting story beats.
Gameplay and mechanics
Here's what Agefield High actually puts in front of you on a daily basis:

- Time and school attendance system governs weekday mornings
- 32 main missions with branching endings
- 15 side missions and optional activities
- 5 lesson types: English, Math, Geography, German, and Music
- Shops selling bikes, clothes, hairstyles, tattoos, and accessories
The time system is the most distinctive mechanic. Weekday mornings mean class, and skipping has consequences, including teachers and cops keeping an eye on Sam if he's causing trouble around town. Attending class earns pocket money through grades, while skipping opens up side missions that pay cash through less legitimate means. It's a simple binary that shapes how each in-game day plays out.
Combat is intentionally straightforward. Refugium Games has been clear that there's no deep combo system here, which suits the tone. This isn't a game trying to be a brawler; the fighting serves the story rather than the other way around.

What does the open world of Agefield actually look like?
Agefield is a small town by design. The map includes the high school campus, two residential neighborhoods, a town center, and a stretch of countryside. It's a handcrafted indie world, not a procedurally generated sprawl, and the detail density reflects that approach.
The game doesn't pretend to compete with massive open-world titles from major studios. What it offers instead is a world built around a specific time, place, and attitude. Early 2000s fashion, music references, and cultural touchstones fill the environment, giving Agefield a sense of place that larger worlds sometimes lose in their scale.
Content and replayability
Two endings give the story a reason for a second playthrough, and the school attendance system creates genuine tension between playing it straight and going off-script. Sam's appearance is customizable through outfits, hairstyles, and tattoos, and the prom sequence arrives as a meaningful story decision rather than just a cutscene.

Agefield High: Rock the School is a focused indie experience built around a specific feeling. The early 2000s setting, the coming-of-age story structure, and the deliberately uncomplicated gameplay all point toward the same goal: recreating the energy of a teen rebellion movie in a playable format. For players who grew up with that era or just want a shorter, personality-driven open-world game without the 80-hour commitment, Agefield makes a compelling case for itself.
