Apex Legends Reveals Finer Details ...

The Overclocked Power Trip event is live in Apex Legends right now, running from June 2 through June 23. The headline feature is a heavily reworked Wildcard mode that throws random gameplay mutations at your squad every five rounds, and for the first time ever, Wildcard gets its own dedicated map rotation. On top of that, Respawn is dropping Ash's first Prestige skin and 25 bio-enhanced cosmetics across some of the game's most popular Legends.

What is the Overclocked Power Trip event?

Power Trip is a three-week limited-time event built around a narrative conceit: experimental biology-altering stims have flooded the Outlands, giving Legends powers that bend the rules of normal battle royale play. Mechanically, that translates into Wildcard mode receiving a batch of nine possible round modifiers, applied randomly across five-round sessions. Some rounds play completely straight, others turn the match into something barely recognizable as Apex.

The map rotation is the other big structural change. Kings Canyon, Olympus, and Broken Moon cycle every 15 minutes within a Wildcard match, meaning you can start a round on one map and find yourself dropping onto a different one before your session ends. Respawn has framed this as the beginning of Wildcard having its own identity separate from standard modes, which suggests more dedicated updates could follow after the event ends.

All 9 Wildcard mutations explained

Not every round gets a modifier. Blank Slate exists specifically to reset the chaos and give you a standard round mid-session. Here is every mutation you can encounter:

Which mutations change the meta the most?

Red Handed is probably the most disruptive modifier for experienced players. Everyone walking around with Mythic-tier weapons eliminates the usual early-game looting phase entirely, which means engagements start faster and positioning matters more from the first second. Explosive is the one most likely to produce genuinely chaotic moments: infinite grenades mean zone control and building pressure become trivial, and the death explosion adds a layer of risk to every close-quarters finish.

Crouching Camo rewards patient, methodical play more than any other modifier. Since combat breaks the cloak, aggressive Legends lose their invisibility the moment they commit to a fight. Slower-paced Legends who can reposition and re-cloak between exchanges have a real edge here. If you want to see how aggressive ability-forward Legends handle these shifting conditions, the Apex Legends Fuse guide covers how explosive kits adapt to high-chaos scenarios.

What rewards can you earn?

The Power Trip event uses a Vials currency system. You earn Vials by playing during the event and spend them in the Rewards Shop to unlock event items. Some cosmetics also require direct in-game purchases rather than Vials alone.

The weekly reward structure breaks down by Legend:

  • Week 1: Ash-themed pack
  • Week 2: Conduit-themed pack
  • Week 3: Vantage-themed pack

Completing daily challenges earns Flasks, which can also be exchanged for rewards including an Epic Gibraltar skin and other bonuses in the Rewards Store.

Bio-enhanced Legend skins

The event introduces 25 new cosmetics total. The bio-enhanced skin line covers five Legends:

Weapon cosmetics

Legendary weapon skins are available for the Flatline, Havoc, Charge Rifle, Prowler, Rampage, and Mozambique. Epic-tier skins cover the Mastiff, Spitfire, and Hemlok.

Ash's Prestige skin: what's included?

The headliner cosmetic for Power Trip is Ash's first-ever Prestige skin, built around the lore of her pushing beyond the limits of Simulacrum technology. The skin comes with multiple upgrade tiers, a custom Finisher animation, and a unique Dive Trail visible to everyone as she drops into a match.

Prestige skins in Apex are tiered unlocks rather than single purchases, so expect to invest time or currency to reach the higher visual states. The custom Finisher and Dive Trail are locked behind the skin's progression, not available as standalone items.

How does the Wildcard map rotation work?

Previous Wildcard mode sessions used the same map throughout a session. Power Trip changes that by giving Wildcard its own dedicated rotation across Kings Canyon, Olympus, and Broken Moon, cycling every 15 minutes. This is the first time Wildcard has operated independently from the standard map pool, and it means your game sense needs to cover three distinct environments within a single play session.

Each map plays differently under the mutations. Featherweight's verticality advantage plays out differently on Olympus's open skyline versus Kings Canyon's tighter corridors. Explosive modifier on Broken Moon's enclosed interior spaces is a different problem than on Olympus's wide-open areas. Adapting your mutation strategy to whichever map is active is the main skill test Power Trip is adding.
