Overview
Block Trucks is a multiplayer cross-platform off-road racing game that brings competitive, skill-based racing to players across PC, mobile, and web browsers. Developed by Meltdown Interactive Media, the game is all about fast-paced races, strategic upgrades, and an open economy where players can trade in-game items. There are no pay-to-win mechanics here, as winning comes down to skill, good upgrades, and knowing how to handle your truck on different terrains. Players can upgrade their trucks over time, customize their ride with unique cosmetics, and compete in ranked races to climb the leaderboards. There’s also a play-and-earn system, allowing players to earn in-game rewards that can be traded or used to improve their vehicles.
Gameplay and Features
The driving mechanics in Block Trucks strike a balance between arcade fun and realistic physics. Trucks have weight to them, meaning you’ll feel every turn, jump, and collision. Taking a corner too fast might throw you into a drift, while poorly timed jumps can leave you struggling to land properly. Handling changes depending on the track surface, racing on smooth tarmac offers tight control and grip, while mud and snow make things trickier, requiring careful braking and throttle control. Learning how to handle your truck across different terrains is key to improving as a racer, especially when going up against experienced opponents.
The game features ranked multiplayer racing, where players compete in real-time against others at a similar skill level. Winning earns ranking points, while losing drops you down the leaderboard. The ranking system uses an ELO-style format, meaning victories against stronger players will boost your rank faster. On the flip side, losing to lower-ranked players will cost more points, making every race a test of skill and consistency.
Customization is a big part of the game. Players can upgrade their trucks in different areas, like increasing engine power for higher top speeds, improving brakes for better handling, or expanding the nitro tank for longer boosts. Each upgrade can make a noticeable difference in how a truck performs, but there’s a balance to maintaining a well-rounded setup. Upgrades require BTCASH, an in-game currency earned from races, and specific upgrade card NFTs, which can be collected or traded. Cosmetic items like paint jobs, decals, tyre sets, and nitro effects let players personalize their trucks without affecting performance, making each racer’s truck feel unique on the track.
Tournaments happen on a weekly and monthly basis, offering unique rewards for top performers. These events bring together some of the best racers, with bigger prize pools and exclusive rewards for those who place high. Entry tickets for these events are NFTs, meaning they can be earned in races, purchased in-game, or traded on the marketplace. For those looking to maximize their rewards, upgrading trucks, practicing on different track conditions, and consistently competing in high-level races is the way to go.
NFTs and Web3
Block Trucks integrates web3 features through NFT ownership and a decentralized economy, powered by Immutable. Instead of relying on a traditional cryptocurrency token, the game operates with two in-game currencies, which are BTCASH and BTCOIN. BTCASH is earned through racing and is mainly used for truck upgrades and maintenance, while BTCOIN serves as a premium currency for purchasing cosmetics and other exclusive items.
NFTs play a key role in customization and progression. Truck cosmetics, including paint jobs, decals, tyre sets, and nitro boosts, allow players to personalize their vehicles without affecting performance. Upgrade cards are needed to enhance truck stats, improving speed, acceleration, and handling. Stadium NFTs give players the ability to own a racetrack and earn a share of the FUEL rewards generated by races held there, offering a way to earn passive income. Tournament entry tickets are also NFTs, granting access to weekly and monthly competitions with larger prize pools. These tickets can be collected in races, purchased in-game, or traded on the marketplace.
