Modern Warfare 4 Guide: All Twitch Drops Rewards & How to Get Them

Six free cosmetics are sitting there waiting for you to claim them, and the only thing standing between you and all of them is 45 minutes of watching Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 streams. Spread across the COD: NEXT showcase and two beta weekends, the full Twitch Drops program gives every player a realistic shot at walking into launch day with emblems, calling cards, and charms already in their inventory.

What are the MW4 Twitch Drops and how do they work?

Twitch Drops are cosmetic rewards tied to watching specific live streams on Twitch. You connect your Activision account to your Twitch account, tune in to eligible MW4 streams during the designated windows, and the rewards accumulate based on your total watch time. None of the six rewards require more than 45 minutes of watching per event, making them among the most accessible drops in recent Call of Duty history.

The drops are split across two separate events: the COD: NEXT showcase and the Modern Warfare 4 beta weekends. Each event has its own reward pool, and watch time does not carry over between them. All earned rewards are held until Modern Warfare 4 launches, so you won't be able to use them immediately after watching.

important
Your Activision account must be linked to Twitch before you start watching. Drops earned without a linked account cannot be retroactively claimed, so sort that out before any event goes live.

All COD: NEXT Twitch Drop rewards

The COD: NEXT showcase is the first window to earn drops. Three rewards are available, and you can unlock all of them with just 45 minutes of total watch time on any eligible stream broadcasting the event.

The 'Ghost Helmet' Charm at the 45-minute mark is the most visually distinctive of the three, referencing one of the franchise's most recognizable operators. The 'Rapple Repel' Calling Card at 30 minutes rounds out a solid set for anyone who wants their profile looking sharp on day one.

tip
You do not need to watch a single stream for the full 45 minutes. Watch time accumulates across multiple eligible streams, so splitting it across a few channels works fine.

The beta weekends bring a second set of three drops, again requiring a maximum of 45 minutes of watch time to unlock everything. The watch time can be split across both beta weekends, which makes this set even easier to complete than the COD: NEXT drops.

The 'Action Ready' Charm mirrors the structure of the COD: NEXT drops, landing at the 45-minute mark as the event's headline reward. Having two beta weekends to accumulate watch time means missing the first weekend is not a disaster.

How to claim your MW4 Twitch Drops

The process is straightforward, but missing one step will cost you the rewards entirely.

  1. Link your accounts. Go to your Twitch settings, navigate to the Connections tab, and link your Activision account. This must be done before any eligible stream begins.
  2. Find an eligible stream. During each event window, search for Modern Warfare 4 streams on Twitch with Drops enabled. These will be tagged in the stream directory.
  3. Watch and accumulate time. Your progress tracks automatically. Check the Drops & Rewards section in your Twitch inventory to monitor progress.
  4. Claim each reward manually. Twitch does not auto-deliver drops. Once you hit each watch time threshold, you need to click Claim in your Twitch inventory before the reward transfers to your Activision account.
  5. Wait for launch. All six rewards become usable when MW4 releases.
warning
Drops expire if you don't claim them within a set window after unlocking. Check your Twitch inventory regularly during and after each event so nothing goes to waste.

Are the MW4 Twitch Drops worth the effort?

For 90 minutes of total watch time spread across multiple events and weekends, you're getting six cosmetics: two emblems, two calling cards, and two charms. None of these are pay-to-own items, and there's no grind attached beyond the watch time itself.

The 'Ghost Helmet' Charm alone is worth showing up for if you're a fan of the character. Calling cards like 'Rapple Repel' and 'Clearing House' have the kind of action-specific names that tend to look better than generic launch rewards.

With the MW4 beta already generating attention and the full game launching October 23, most players will be watching streams anyway. The drops are essentially a bonus for doing something you'd probably do regardless.

What else should you know before MW4 launches?

The Twitch Drops are a small piece of a larger pre-launch picture. MW4 arrives with 12 brand-new 6v6 maps and a full suite of returning and new game modes, so there's plenty to read up on before you drop in on day one.

For everything else you need ahead of release, the full Modern Warfare 4 strategy guides collection has you covered on modes, maps, beta access, and pre-order details.
