The Cradle of Truth is the fifth Abyss Restoration Challenge in Crimson Desert's Dry Valley cluster, reached after completing Spire of Frost, Passage of Malice, Tomb of Perdition, and Desert Fragment in sequence. The puzzle puts a wall of blue lasers between you and the Abyss Artifact, and your job is to escort a power source through that gauntlet. There are two ways to do it: the intended method that works your way through five pairs of rotating laser pillars, and a shortcut that uses aerial Force Palm to glide clean over everything.
How to reach the Cradle of Truth
You cannot enter this puzzle directly. The Skybridge leading to Cradle of Truth only opens after you clear Desert Fragment. The full access chain is:
Once Desert Fragment is done, cross the Skybridge and proceed to the larger platform where the Abyss Nexus is located.
The Cradle of Truth is part of the Dry Valley Abyss cluster. If the Skybridge is locked, you have likely missed one of the four prerequisite puzzles listed above.
How to solve the Cradle of Truth

Abyss Nexus power source slot
Step 1: Cool down the first battery
At the Abyss Nexus you will find a square power source that is on fire. Use Axiom Force to pick it up and drag it into the pool of water nearby to extinguish the flames. Alternatively, the Frost Mantle ability used next to the battery will also put out the fire. Once cooled, slot the battery into the socket on the ground to activate the moving platforms ahead.
Step 2: Navigate the five pillar pairs
Ahead of you are five pairs of floating pillars, each with an Axiom Force switch. Hitting a switch rotates all other pillars and their attached lasers clockwise. The electrified tops of these pillars cannot be stood on. Separate from those are thinner fixed pillars with lasers that sweep up and down, requiring active dodging.
Here is how many switch activations each pair requires:
- Pair 1: Activate twice
- Pair 2: Activate twice, then collect the second battery below and to the west
- Pair 3: Activate three times
- Pair 4: Activate three times
- Pair 5: Lasers fire regardless of pillar orientation. Either activate once and jump over the laser, or activate four times and duck under it
The thin fixed pillars have lasers that move up and down independently of the switches. Time your movement between their cycles rather than rushing through.
Step 3: Place the second battery and claim the artifact
According to the Game8 walkthrough team, the second battery needs to go into the rightmost slot on the ground north of the laser obstacle area. Once placed, step on the pedestal that appears to spawn the Abyss Cresset, then pick up the Abyss Artifact to complete the puzzle. This also activates a new fast travel point at that location.

Is there a faster shortcut for Cradle of Truth?
Yes, and it skips the laser gauntlet entirely. This method, documented by Vulkk.com, uses aerial Force Palm to carry the power source across the entire obstacle zone without engaging a single switch.
- Extinguish the first battery as normal and move it upward
- Jump onto one of the forward pillars and push the battery even higher
- Double jump, then use aerial Force Palm three times consecutively
- While airborne, grab the power source with Axiom Force and glide across to the far platform
- Drop the battery into the socket
Powerpyx's guide confirms the same technique: boost into the air with a mid-air Force Palm (Mouse Wheel on PC), grab the block with Axiom Force, push it as far north as possible, then glide to the far side and slot it in.
The electrified tops of the rotating pillars will damage you if you land on them during the glide. Aim to clear them entirely rather than using them as stepping stones.
What rewards do you get from Cradle of Truth?
Completing the puzzle gives you the following, according to the Game8 walkthrough team:
There is also a small chest on the southeast side of the final platform containing random loot, which can include money, upgrade materials, or Abyss Gears, according to the Vulkk.com walkthrough.
Do not leave the final platform without checking the southeast corner. The small chest is easy to miss after focusing on the Abyss Cresset.
What abilities do you need for Cradle of Truth?
Two abilities are directly involved in this puzzle:
- Axiom Force: Picks up, moves, and places the power source batteries. Required for both the normal method and the shortcut.
- Force Palm (aerial): Used in the shortcut to gain height and extend your glide distance across the laser field. Vulkk.com notes you need to perform three consecutive aerial Force Palms to clear the gap.
- Frost Mantle (optional): Can substitute for the water pool to extinguish the first battery's flames.
If you have not yet unlocked aerial Force Palm, the normal pillar-switch method is your only option. Plan your route through the five pairs using the activation counts listed above.
