Crimson Desert Guide: How to Get Shadows Armor Set

The Shadows Armor Set in Crimson Desert is one of those gear sets that rewards players who actually explore rather than follow the critical path. Four of the five pieces sit in hidden caves and locked rooms scattered across the Hernand region, while the fifth is locked behind a boss fight that only becomes available during the main story. Here's exactly where to find every piece, what each one does, and whether it's worth the detour.

What is the Shadows Armor Set?

The Shadows Armor Set is a 5-piece plate armor collection tied to the Hernand region. It's designed as an early-to-mid game high-tier set, offering strong survivability combined with Abyss Gear effects that go well beyond raw defense numbers. The individual bonuses include petrification immunity, Fire Resistance Level 7, climb and swim speed multipliers, and a unique skill that lets you freeze water surfaces for traversal. That last one, the Glacial Domain ability on the Plate Helm of the Shadows, is the main reason players hunt this set down.

What are all the Shadows Armor Set pieces?

The full set consists of five pieces:

  • Plate Helm of the Shadows (boss drop only)
  • Plate Armor of the Shadows (Everfrost Watchtower cave)
  • Plate Boots of the Shadows (Frostclaw Cave waterfall)
  • Plate Gloves of the Shadows (Everfrost Cave)
  • Plate Cloak of the Shadows (Hoenmark Ruins underground chamber)

How to get all five Shadows Armor pieces

Plate Cloak of the Shadows (Hoenmark Ruins)

This is the easiest piece to reach but the easiest to walk past. Head to Hoenmark Ruins in the northern part of the Hernand region. Inside the ruins, look for the one structure with tiled flooring — it stands out because it's the only tiled surface in the area. Crouch directly on top of the tiles, then use Force Palm to break through the floor. A hidden chamber drops open beneath you. Loot the chest inside for the Plate Cloak of the Shadows, then light the lantern nearby to unlock the exit door.

The cloak provides 3 Defense and grants Fire Resistance Level 7, making it genuinely useful in fire-heavy areas rather than just a cosmetic piece.

Crimson Desert Guide: How to Get Shadows Armor Set

Plate Armor of the Shadows (Everfrost Watchtower)

Travel to the area around Everfrost Watchtower in the Argent Peaks. Hug the rocky cliffs nearby and scan for a small cave entrance cut into the rock face — there's no map marker pointing to it. Once inside, find the brazier and interact with it. Lighting it lowers the spike barrier blocking the chest. Open the chest to collect the Plate Armor of the Shadows.

This piece carries 13 Defense (per Game8's stat documentation), Petrification Immunity, +3 Defense, and +2% Stamina Regeneration. The petrification immunity alone makes it worth equipping early.

Plate Boots of the Shadows (Frostclaw Cave)

Head to Frostclaw Cave and descend to the lower section. You'll reach a waterfall that appears to block the path completely. Stand slightly to the left at the waterfall's base, then charge a Stab attack and push forward through the water. This move lets you punch through without getting knocked back, revealing a hidden area behind the falls. The chest containing the Plate Boots of the Shadows sits inside.

The boots provide 7 Defense and 16 Attack, plus +10% Skill EXP Gain and +2% Climb Speed Multiplier — a combination that makes them particularly useful during the leveling phase.

Plate Gloves of the Shadows (Everfrost Cave)

This one has a deliberate misdirection built into the route. Travel toward the Everfrost region and follow the riverbank path heading west of Scholasta Institute. You'll eventually trigger an "end of the world" boundary warning that most players treat as a dead end. Ignore it. Look for climbable terrain nearby and scale upward along the rocky surface. The entrance to Everfrost Cave sits at the top. Move through the cave interior and collect the Plate Gloves of the Shadows from the loot point inside.

The gloves carry 3 Defense and 18 Attack, with +2% Climb Speed Multiplier and +2% Swim Speed Multiplier stacking with the boots' climb bonus.

Plate Helm of the Shadows (Beloth the Darksworn)

The helm is the only piece that can't be grabbed through exploration. According to both KeenGamer and Game8's documentation, Beloth the Darksworn appears during the White Blizzard quest in Chapter 7, taking place back in Hoenmark Ruins. Defeating him rewards you with the helm as a quest objective loot drop.

Game8 also notes that defeating Beloth provides all 5 set pieces simultaneously, so if you skip the open-world collection and just play the story, you'll get the full set from this single boss fight. The helm grants Daze Immunity and unlocks the Glacial Domain skill (L2+R2), which freezes water surfaces for a few seconds of traversal.

Should you collect this set before the boss fight?

Here's the practical reality: the four open-world pieces are worth grabbing as you encounter them during normal exploration, not as a dedicated farming session. The Plate Armor's petrification immunity and the Boots' +10% Skill EXP are both useful well before you reach Chapter 7. The Cloak's Fire Resistance Level 7 is the kind of thing you'll appreciate the moment you walk into a fire-heavy zone without it.
