The Unyielding Hero Plate Armor set arrived in Crimson Desert with patch 1.13, and it's one of the more satisfying sets to chase because every piece has a distinct story behind it. Worn by Cassius Morten and bearing the Church of Solumen's insignia across spike-laden plate, this is not a set you stumble into. Five pieces, four different acquisition methods, and at least one challenge that will test your patience with a cannon. Here's how to get all of them.
What is the Unyielding Hero Armor set?
The Unyielding Hero set is a full plate outfit introduced in patch 1.13, wearable by both Kliff and Oonka. It's modeled on Cassius Morten, the boss at the end of Chapter VI, and also worn by Awakened Bastier in Chapter VIII. The set features the Church of Solumen's crest on spiked plate with tattered fabric, and every piece is fully upgradeable and dyeable.
As plate armor, the set prioritizes maximum Defense and raw unarmed Attack Power. The standout passive benefits are Daze Immunity on the helm and Fire Resistance Lv 7 on the cloak, the latter being enough to reach Tier II Flame Resistance when paired with a Flameward III.

How to get the Unyielding Hero Plate Armor
This is the story-locked piece. The Unyielding Hero Plate Armor drops from defeating Cassius Morten at the end of the Traitor subquest in Chapter 6. You also receive the Shield of Betrayal from the same fight.
To reach this fight, you need to clear three main quests in sequence: Blazing Beacon, Below Banners, and Turning Tides. Completing those unlocks The Unyielding Shields quest, which opens with the A Thousand Troops subquest. Finish that and the Traitor subquest becomes available, putting you face to face with Cassius Morten in Calphade Castle.
How to get the Unyielding Hero Plate Helm
The helm is the only piece with no challenge attached. Purchase it from Thrak, the Back Alley Shop vendor in Calphade (also called Thalwynd), for 16.84 Silver. Calphade sits northwest of Hernand City, and Thrak's shop is located south of the Church of Calphade.
Some players report needing to reach 100 Trust with the settlement or defeat Cassius Morten before the helm appears in stock. If the vendor's inventory looks empty, push your story progress first and check back.

How to get the Unyielding Hero Plate Gloves
The gloves come from the Goyen's Advice Battle challenge: Into the Barrage. The objective is to kill 5 enemies simultaneously with a cannon. Pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact that activates this challenge on the east bank of the Deep Fog Basin, north of the first "N" in Hernand on the map.
The challenge itself is the tricky part. Three viable locations exist:
- Thornbriar Fortress during the Chapter 8 Rebel Suppression quest
- Fort Windridge near Three Brothers' Cliff during the Balthazar the Wyvernflame Faction Quest
- Royal Trading Post in Demeniss (best fallback option)
At the Royal Trading Post, two training fields contain soldiers. A cannon has a chance to spawn in the western field each time you reload the instance. Equip a Mask, man the cannon, and fire into a tight cluster of 5 soldiers. The Mask is necessary to avoid triggering a full hostile response before you can line up the shot.
How to get the Unyielding Hero Plate Cloak
The cloak unlocks from the White Crow's Gaze Hunting challenge: Hunter's Discipline. The task is to kill 3 hyenas without moving more than 20 meters. Find the Sealed Abyss Artifact near Tashkalp, at the road intersection just north of the first "A" in Tashkalp on the map.
The best spot to complete this is just northwest of the artifact, across the river, where a large pack of hyenas roams. Stand your ground and use ranged weapons (bows or guns work well) to pull hyenas toward you rather than chasing them down. There's no time limit, so patience wins here.
If that pack is already cleared, a group of roughly 4 hyenas spawns near the artifact location itself. Either spot works as long as you stay within the 20-meter boundary.
How to get the Unyielding Hero Plate Boots
The boots come from Master Du's Dare Above the Law challenge: The Vanished Wagon. The goal is to steal 3 wagons from NPCs on roads and deliver each one to a wagon fence. Grab the Sealed Abyss Artifact in Calphade, north of the Calphade Beacon, to activate the challenge.
Three wagon fences exist across the map:
- East of the Howling Hill camp in Hernand
- West of Demeniss, just past the fields
- Southeast of Tashkalp
The ring road below Tashkalp is the most efficient route since wagons spawn frequently along it and a fence is close by, letting you offload all three without a long drive.
Unyielding Hero Plate Armor set stats
The gloves and boots are the offensive backbone of the set, scaling up to 35 and 34 Attack respectively at max upgrade. The cloak's Fire Resistance Lv 7 is the build-enabling stat, letting you hit Tier II Flame Resistance with a Flameward III without sacrificing a ring slot.
What weapons pair well with the Unyielding Hero set?
The sources point to two weapons tied directly to the Cassius Morten storyline. The Mace of Betrayal can be stolen from the tower in the center of Calphade Castle (the open-windowed tower parallel to the throne room along the inner courtyard wall). It scales to 33 Attack with Critical Rate Lv 2 at max and comes socketed with Swift I, Bloodbane I, and Insight I.
The Traitor's Spear sits in a secret cellar beneath Calphade, accessible through a trapdoor under scaffolding between the Calphade Northern Depot and Calphade Logging Camp. Inside, defeat the Abyssal enemies and light the torches beside the gate to reach the weapon. At max level it hits 35 Attack with Attack Speed Lv 1 and Critical Rate Lv 2, plus the Piercing Bloom skill.
For accessories, the Demeniss Cathedral Necklace and Demeniss Cathedral Ring are both purchasable from the Contribution Office at the Cathedral in the Demenissian capital. The necklace scales to Critical Rate Lv 3 with 0.4/s Spirit Regen at max; the ring reaches Attack Speed Lv 3 with 8% Stamina Regen Rate.
