The FC 27 Transfer Market is locked for a reason
Every year at launch, the same wave of posts floods FUT communities: "Why is my Transfer Market locked?" The answer is never a bug or a server issue. EA Sports FC 27 runs two completely separate access gates on the Transfer Market, and most players only know about one of them. Miss that distinction and you can be trading happily on console while the Web App sits padlocked for days.
This guide breaks down both gates, what actually counts toward unlocking them, and the fastest path to trading before the Standard Edition crowd arrives.

Transfer Market search interface
Why does EA lock the Transfer Market at all?
This is a deliberate anti-abuse system called Graduated Access. EA built it to stop freshly created accounts from being spun up as coin-transfer mules on day one. The logic is straightforward: new accounts need to demonstrate genuine play before gaining full market access. EA support cannot override this system, and no advisor can tell you exactly when your access will arrive. The fix is always behavioral, not a ticket.
Who gets automatic Transfer Market access in FC 27?
Returning players may skip both gates entirely if their EA Account is in good standing and they previously earned Transfer Market access in:
- FC 26 before August 1, 2026
- FC 25 before August 1, 2025
- FC 24 before August 1, 2024
Eligible returning players can access the Web App from September 16, 2026 and the Companion App from September 17, 2026. This is the one scenario where a single condition clears both the in-game market and the app market at once.
The phrase "in good standing" does a lot of work here. A live Transfer Market ban, an active account suspension, or a franchise-level ban removes you from the skip list regardless of your play history.
How do you unlock the in-game Transfer Market?
If you are new to the franchise or your account is not in good standing, the path runs through Foundations Objective Groups. The sequence is two groups in order:
- Complete New Beginnings (the first Foundations group)
- Complete Venturing Out (unlocks after New Beginnings is finished)
- Claim your reward from Venturing Out
Once you claim that reward, the timer starts. EA grants full in-game Transfer Market access within the following windows:
The interim state is worth understanding. During the waiting window, you can list items on the Transfer Market but cannot search, bid, or use Buy Now. The correct play on a new account: finish the objectives immediately, list every duplicate and starter-pack gold you do not need, and let them sell while the search-and-buy side is still locked. You come out of the timer with coins already accumulating.
Why is the Web App still locked after unlocking in-game?
This is the most misunderstood part of the entire system. Completing the Foundations objectives and unlocking the in-game market does not automatically unlock the Web App or Companion App. These are two separate entitlements with two separate conditions.
The in-game market is objective-based. The Web App and Companion App market is activity-based, governed by a concept called active days.
Every year, players grind matches for a week wondering why the app still shows a padlock. Nothing is broken. They cleared gate one and never started gate two.
What counts as an active day?
An active day requires both of the following within the same UTC calendar day, per Ultimate Team account:
- Play three complete Ultimate Team matches (quitting out early does not count)
- Log into either the Web App or Companion App that same day
Four things players consistently get wrong about this definition:
- Three full matches, not three logins. Menu sessions and abandoned matches contribute nothing.
- The app login is mandatory. Playing three matches without opening the Web App or Companion App that day does not register as an active day. This is the step most players skip entirely.
- UTC calendar days. If you are in a timezone several hours ahead of UTC and play late at night, your session may land on the previous UTC calendar day. Late sessions in GMT+3 or further east can silently collapse two calendar days into one.
- Playing more than three matches per day does not help. Match four onwards contributes nothing to the unlock count.
How many active days does the FC 27 Web App take?
The number depends on your device history:
That middle row quietly ruins launch week for a lot of players. A shared console, a sibling's old club, or an account you made once and abandoned all push you from the 2-day bucket into the 4-day-plus bucket. When access does arrive, EA sends an in-game message to your Ultimate Team account confirming it.

Web App market access pending
What if the app shows a block message instead of a lock?
A block is a different state from a lock, and the distinction matters. If your Web App or Companion App displays either of these messages, the active-day process will not override it:
- "Your account has been blocked from using the Transfer Market on the Web and Companion Apps due to breaking our rules. Although you can't access the Football Ultimate Team Transfer Market on Web and Companion Apps for the current FC title, you can still use the in-game Transfer Market. Check the email associated with your EA Account for more information."
- "Your account has been blocked from using the Transfer Market due to breaking our rules. Check the email associated with your EA Account for more information."
The first message means app access is blocked but the console market still works. The second is a total block. In both cases, EA emails an explanation to the address on your EA Account. Check that inbox before grinding matches toward an unlock that will never arrive.
Do FC 26 Transfer Market bans carry into FC 27?
Two different penalties behave differently:
- Title-specific market ban from FC 26: Does not transfer to FC 27. You lose the returning-player skip and must earn access from scratch, but you can unlock it through normal play.
- Franchise-wide FC ban: Carries over to FC 27 and continues to affect market access.
What is the fastest unlock timeline?
For players who need to earn access rather than receive it automatically, here is the sequence that gets you trading as early as possible:
- Check your account status first. Confirm your EA Account is in good standing and verify the email address linked to your FC 27 platform account.
- Log into the Web App on day one (September 16 for eligible returning players). Returning players in good standing should have immediate access.
- Log into the Companion App the following day. Both app logins count toward the app-login half of an active day.
- Start Early Access (September 18 for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions). If locked, finish New Beginnings then Venturing Out immediately. List every spare item during the 24/48-hour in-game wait window.
- Active day 1: Play three full matches, then open the Web App or Companion App before the UTC calendar day ends.
- Active day 2: Repeat. This is the earliest unlock point for a clean sole-account device.
- Continue through day 4 if other UT accounts have ever used your device.
- Global release is September 25, 2026 (PC unlocks September 24 at 23:00 UTC). Standard Edition players arrive and early trading margins compress from this point.
With the market open, the next priority is building your coin balance. The EA FC 27 Ultimate Team coin-earning guide covers the most effective methods for the launch window, and if you want free resources while you grind active days, the daily login rewards breakdown is worth checking before you play your first match.
