Area 41 in Far Far West is exactly as strange as it sounds. Deep in the southwestern corner of the map sits a cluster of rock statues arranged into what the game calls a contraption, surrounded by alien-looking symbols and no obvious explanation for what any of it means. Most players walk up, poke around for a few minutes, and leave more confused than when they arrived. The puzzle doesn't explain itself, and the clues are scattered across four completely separate biomes. This guide breaks down every step, from finding the four symbol keys to entering the correct code and claiming your reward.
Where is the Area 41 puzzle located?
The contraption sits in the Area 41 region, at the southwestern edge of the map. Head to the southern side of this region and look for a large rock at the map's boundary. Behind it you'll find the full statue assembly. Interacting with the lone statue positioned opposite the contraption triggers the puzzle and delivers the only hint the game gives you: "The frontier, the sand, the cliff, the trees – each of these holds one of our keys." That's your roadmap. Four biomes, four keys, four symbols.

How to find all four symbol keys
Each key is a statue located in a different biome. When you interact with one, pay close attention to two things: the symbol displayed on the statue and the number of dots underneath it. The dot count is what tells you which slot on the contraption that symbol belongs to. Take a screenshot of each one so you don't have to backtrack.
Key 1: Far West biome
Head to the Far West map and navigate to the southwestern end of this biome. The key statue is positioned in this corner. Interact with it and note the symbol plus the dot count beneath it.
Key 2: Desert biome
The second key sits on the southern end of the Desert map. Here the clue is presented on a snowman rather than a standard statue, which makes it one of the more visually distinct finds in the puzzle. The symbol and dot count follow the same format as the others.
Key 3: Canyon biome
The Canyon biome key is conveniently close to the spawn location for that map. It's one of the easiest to grab since you don't need to travel far after loading in. Same process: interact, note the symbol, note the dots.

Key 4: Woodlands biome
The final key is in the Woodlands biome toward the eastern end of the map. The statue stands in the open, so it's straightforward to reach once you know where to look.
The symbols are randomized per player, so there's no single universal code to enter. You must visit all four statues yourself and record what you see. Any guide that gives you a fixed four-symbol answer is wrong.
How to solve the Area 41 code and activate the contraption
Once you have all four symbols and their corresponding dot counts, return to the contraption in Area 41. The contraption has multiple interactive buttons, each marked with a different number of dots. The logic is straightforward once you understand the system:
- Find the button on the contraption marked with one dot
- Rotate it until it displays the symbol from the key that also had one dot
- Move to the button marked with two dots and repeat with the matching symbol
- Continue this process for all four positions in sequence
Enter every symbol in the correct slot and the contraption activates. Solving it rewards you with the Anti-Gravity Joker weapon attachment.
What reward do you get for solving Area 41?
Completing the puzzle unlocks the Anti-Gravity Joker for your weapons, as documented by both Deltia's Gaming and Destructoid in their coverage of the puzzle. It's a secret reward that has no other unlock path in the game, making this one of the more worthwhile hidden puzzles to track down.
