The Far Far North is Far Far West's snowy new region, added in a recent update, and it's locked behind a three-part questline that the game doesn't explain particularly well. You won't get map markers pointing you to the right spots, and if you haven't touched Trackwreck's Quest yet, you might spend a run or two just wandering. This guide covers every train wreck location across the three required maps and the fastest way to push through each extraction.
What is Trackwreck's Quest?
Trackwreck's Quest is a mission chain given by the Railroad Worker NPC, who appears at a train wreck site on each of three different maps: Far West, Canyon, and Area 41. The setup is straightforward. Trains carrying data about the Far Far North were hijacked, and you're recovering the black boxes from the wreckage. Complete all three extractions, turn in the quest at the saloon, and the Far Far North map unlocks.
The quest itself isn't mechanically difficult. The confusion comes from not knowing where to find the Railroad Worker or what the extraction circles actually expect from you.

Here's where each wreck sits before we break down the details.
Far West train wreck location
Head to the northern part of the Far West map on any difficulty. You'll spot the broken train and the Railroad Worker standing nearby. Talk to him to kick off the extraction.
Your job is to stay inside green extraction circles while a progress bar fills. These circles shift position periodically, so you need to move with them. Enemies start spawning around the halfway mark. Don't let that pull you away from the objective. The circle progress is what matters. Only step out to heal if you're about to go down.
Playing in a party makes this significantly easier since one player can hold the circle while others deal with incoming enemies. Solo is very doable though. Just keep your eyes on the circle's movement pattern and stay reactive.

Stay inside the moving ring
Canyon train wreck location
The Canyon wreck sits on the east side of the map, on slightly raised ground. Same drill: find the Railroad Worker, start the conversation, then hold the extraction circles while the black box data downloads.
If you have doll skills available, this is a good time to use them. They provide a brief window of protection that makes staying inside a circle easier when enemies pile on. The core strategy doesn't change from the first extraction, but having that extra layer of survivability helps when enemy attacks threaten to knock you out of the circle.
Area 41 train wreck location
The final extraction takes place in Area 41, at a marked spot in the northeast section of the map. This one is the most demanding of the three because the circles move more frequently, meaning you'll reposition more often throughout the download.
The strategy remains the same: stay in the circle, manage enemies as a secondary concern, and don't let the movement patterns panic you. Once the download hits 100%, extract safely back to the saloon.

How to unlock the Far Far North map
After finishing all three extractions, return to the saloon and turn in the quest. The Far Far North map will then appear in your world map, accessible by scrolling upward into the northern section. The next time you start a mission, it shows up in the list of available options alongside the other maps.
The new region features snowy mountains and new exploration routes, so it's worth the effort to unlock before burning through your normal runs.
Tips for completing extractions faster
- Prioritize the circle over kills. Enemies don't stop the extraction. Leaving the circle does.
- Run any difficulty. The extraction mechanic works the same on all difficulty settings, so there's no reason to grind on harder modes just for this quest.
- Use defensive abilities. Skills that give brief invulnerability or crowd control windows are more valuable here than raw damage output.
- Multiplayer splits the load. One player on the circle, others on enemy control, and extractions go noticeably faster with fewer interruptions.
- Watch the circle's shift animation. It gives you a half-second of warning before fully relocating. Use that to move early instead of scrambling to catch up.
